While this thread is labeled "DotA2", this is in fact a community thread first. Many of the users in the TL LoL subforum have been playing as friends for over a year now, so it makes logical sense that they would want to play other games together.
Do not compare DotA2 to LoL, you will get banned.
TL LoL veterans know what is expected. Newcomers be warned.

I watch a lot of competitive so I kinda get the feeling of drafts but I also think there's all these mental mind games where people get baited into certain picks and then countered. I was wondering if there were any common traps like that. Or if that triangle of push/split/teamfight is still viable.
Or even things like what makes a strong lane. The other day in one game, people got all pissy about the draft and in the end it became a Huskar/Abaddon/CM vs Lich/Luna and we just got dove over and over at Level 5, leading me to think that Lich/Luna has no lane synergy.
There is the possibility that I'm just overthinking things and that it's pub so I should just play whatever.
Just a note that the percentiles listed by Valve are for normal queue, the ranked percentiles will be different(higher ratings).

NA qualifiers were pretty boring yesterday. Only one good game and I went to sleep before that. Think just wait for the bracket games to watch.
edit: Ok I've been told that one guy was bad too. So yea just read the results of the qualifiers.

There are games today as well, right? I'll try and jump into TS to watch some, since my usual dota buddies don't get on until midnight usually.

Judging from yesterdays games I wouldn't expect too much out of the American qualifiers. They were definitely amusing at times tho! =D

I can enjoy any set of matches in which TL does well, regardless of the strength of the competition. I'm not above taking easy wins or w/e.

Since TL's played the games against the other 3 relevant teams in the Qualifiers yesterday already today's games should more or less be a set of relatively easy games (or hilarious throws).

NA qualifier reminds me once again that NA is the worst region in Dota and pretty much all things esports with the exception of.....Smash?

At least I can be happy that SOME Westerners can win tournaments in DotA.

the NA quals is like every game of 2 seasons of NACL bundled into a 4 day event, cept the LMQ here isn't a bunch of ex-pros, but a bunch of Chinese foreign exchange students who were bored (and they suck)

Difference between West and East in Dota is much smaller compared to LoL, West can beat East. The best NA team does quite well/decent and the C9 Dota counterpart does ok. The rest of NA kinda sucks, Europe is strong with Na`Vi, Alliance and up to a certain degree Fnatic and Empire. Korea sucks, we send foreigners there to harvest Korean money(how ironic). Maybe East has an edge but not a big one.

The C9 Counterpart is EG, which makes the TL DotA team TSM; we even have the same imported European midlaner that carries us

Me and Yango discussed this. The C9/TSM parallel works, NAR can be CLG because they have #potential.
I also proposed that even though it doesn't fit as well, it's perhaps more fun to consider that TL is CLG, and SNA is Curse Gaming, with their TL(CLG) throwaway players.

Wouldn't C9 be the TSM of Dota. Liquid would be more like a CLG or Curse
