Yeah. People are too damn murderhappy in this game. I feel like there should be some kind of penalty, but nothing so big the threat of being shot stops completely. The bandit skins is sortof a good idea, at least it will let you know if whoever you're facing is likely to shoot you. But on the other hand it does eat into the realism bit.
Maybe something like zombies being more likely to chase you or see you from further away would be nice? Won't do much now, but could be troublesome enough once they start increasing the numbers.

They already see you from miles anyway so why not add a little more

I don't trust anybody, why would I. It's just a stupid risk to take. Everyone dies!

Not trusting is one thing, sparing someone's life in an obvious way to have them shoot you in the back afterwards is just being a complete asshat

Today was a good day in the apocalypse. I got a backpack. I was also able to eat some beans after i chopped the lid off with my axe. So, i thought, after pillaging all them little towns, let's go big. Let's go to a military base. Time to find a gun. Found the nouthern airfield and checked for stuff, but everything was gone. Until, in the last barrack, i found two corpses.. full with stuff. So much stuff. As they were shot before let laying there, everything was ruined, but i figure, it doesn't really matter that all is ruined. Now i got a question. One of the guys had 4 conserves on himself. The way i read about it, your energy depot is so big, that you basically can't ever be wrong if you eat everything until your stomach is full. Why would you hold onto that stuff, especially if inventory space is rare?
And another question, when the server restarts, do all the corpses vanish, or do items stay for a set time? And how often do these servers reset usually?

Reset means everything resets. Corpses, loots and zombies. Differs from server to server how often, but usually every 2-4 hours.

the thing is that inventory space isn't that big a deal because of all the items you can carry on your person outside your backpack. usually my endgame loadout backpack consists of 3-4 clips/an ammo box, a few bandages and other miscellaneous items, and the rest is food. especially as a solo player, having a huge store of food and sometimes water is important because if you get in a gunfight and survive you need to gorge yourself to begin the regen process. foraging and consuming all food/water you come across will keep the indicators off your screen but is almost never enough to regen on its own.
ideally I think the way to make backpack space matter would be to let you break down another primary entirely into large component pieces and let you carry it, allowing for a choice of primaries ala the mod. probably not a great idea now when there's all of 2 - soon to be 3 - primary options, though.

Inventory space starts being a big deal once you start hoarding medical equipment. Between ammo (usually 3 extra clips for main gun, 2 extra for pistol and a 300 round box), the pistol itself, medical stuff (maybe 2 full medical bags with random stuff + defibrillator and a couple of extra saline and iv bags), and whatever extra small stuff you need like headtorch, handcuffs and keys, compass, maps and 2-3 cans of water, you usually wont have much left for food :/ I try to carry 4 cans with me and just stuff my face whenever I find some extra I can use, depending on where I find it (I'm not stopping to stuff my face on the airfield for example, that's asking to get shot).

Until they get more pistol mods such as a suppressor, and getting the suppressor working, carrying a pistol is only useful when your main gun is a mosin. At a certain point you don't need the ammo box either because of your 5 60 (or 40 even) round magazines. Defib is also currently pointless, much better to have those four slots for an epi and morphine plus saline IV. Headtorches are some sort of massive "kill me please" beacon, you have to go into your inventory to turn them off too (unless that was changed).
Collecting yellow boxes can let you carry an extra 6 slots at least over your main inventory. Inventory space is going to be way more of a bitch when they translate movement speed into more relative energy and water usage, plus cooking, plus walkie talkies, plus stray car parts.

would be cool if they implent some sort of craftable wagon with that you can carry your stuff.

Would be a Kill me on Sight sign though...
Would be cool if you could craft mannequins. You put them at a window and could see if someone shoots at it or something like that

So, does anybody know, whether the servers are gonna stay the same? Meaning, an abundance of different 40 player servers which are privately hosted? When i saw the first videos of the game, i thought it would be more of an mmo, which is kind of held back by these player limits. What are you doing if your server is full, start a new char? What are you doing if your server died down and is empty? A persistent universe seems not to fit that well into that server-architecture.

We know that servers are not going to stay the same. We don't know specifics though, but player limit will be raiser, and I believe its planned to be modable.
Character is client stored, so you can jump between servers as you want. This is intended. Character is not, or going to be, server bound.

Is it possible to "create" a server with password so you don't have random server hopper and only your friends that can come there ?

Not right now. I believe its suppose to be possible at some point, probably with isolated character to prevent cheating.

Oh ok but it's in their books. That's cool.

Just bought DayZ today and it had been really addictive so far. The only flaw for me is that I get dizzy whenever I am accelerating while under the effect of being thirsty or sick and also never man fight a zombie with fists.
|
i bought it but run at 16fps on "ok looking" quality im the kinda person who doesnt mind playing at 16fps so long as a game looks good and is immersive however i will probably be useless in a fight lol game looks really bad if i lower settings (runs much faster if i reduce resolution but is so blurry its just like going out in the real world without my glasses whilst being hideously shortsighted )
my specs are: SSD hd duo 3.2ghz radeon hd 4780 (very low memory but i turn textures on high and theres no problem anyway) dell ultrasharp 1900p
|
Is there ever a plan to fix animations so things look in sync? It looks better now then in old DayZ but it is still not good enough. Also zombies need to be more dangerous so to promote players working together. Also the game needs clans and being able to have clan markings so people don't shoot clan members on sight.
With clans players can form raider groups or police groups or anything.
When are vehicles coming like in old DayZ?
