But no matter the intentions, increasing the price of a product and then put it on sale is illegal in most countries, and can be seen as trying to trick the customer. They should have waited to increase the price until after the sale.
Actually that is quite a common business practice, and is far from illegal in most countries (that I know of at least). But that is far from the point. The game was already on sale for 50% off during the majority of the alpha. They had a set date when they were going to increase the price, and they kept to it. They then used the sale as a way for them to extend their original discount for anyone who missed it. As with most internet communities people are quite happy to jump on the hate bandwagon, and rather than calling them good guy gregs for having the early access on sale for 50% off for almost a year (where as most companies these days charge full price) and then even using the sales as an excuse to continue the discount past their cut off date, instead people quite happily brand them scumbag steve for simply sticking to their predetermined timeline.
Now I am not saying that raising your prices right before a sale is ethical, as it is clearly not. I am simply pointing out that if anyone had been bothered to do some research, they would realise that this is not what Bohemia are doing.

Whatever their intentions, it was incredibly stupid of them to do what they did and they should have foreseen the public outcry.

Well, it's kind of the fault of the people that are complaining, as they told everyone way before hand, multiple times. We're talking about people who still have faith in pre-orders from Ubisoft, and people who troll early access games just because it's so easy.
TL;DR Consumers are pretty dumb

What? It's stupid I agree, but it's far from illegal.

Seriously, they raised the price and immediately gave a discount for the same amount. There is just no way in the world to make that look like a good thing. They should have postponed the price raising until the steam deals are done and not participate in it. Same outcome, no drama.

I said "most countries". US is probably not one of them considering the insane "Price everything higher and have it on sale 100% of the time" policy a lot of retailers have over there. Over here in Europe its a different matter

4 year bump! So much hate for SA but I hope I'm not the only one still excited for Beta. The devs built an entirely new engine (Enfusion) dedicated to this game, and the 0.63 (Beta) patch previews I've seen on YT are pretty promising. I'm still hopeful this will be the best zombie survival game out there.
