oh dexter : (. it's like 24 kinda, but without the good redemption season (7 & 8)
Also @ HawaiianPig, PRISON BREAK FINALE WAS GOOD; DONT WATCH THE MOVIE: PRISON BREAK: THE FINAL BREAK.

This show...well I watched Breaking Bad right after it, so I'm fine.
Damn, I watched BB first, then Dexter before sleep. I just want the show to end, really just end. I actually think I'll just read how the finale goes (here) next week here and save me the pain, cause that's all that seems to be in store for me on this show.
I have dropped shows before, and it feels pretty damn good.

I don't get why they even had to pull that many new characters out of thin air.
I mean, there's plenty of material to work with, wrapping up the show:
- Batista figuring out Dexter - Matthews figuring out Dexter - Quinn figuring out Dexter - Lumen coming back - Anything involving Rita's kids - Deb torn between wanting to bone and kill Dexter - Yvonne going haywire - Mecha-Doakes
There's so many characters we care about already, so why did they even need to manufacture an entire host of new people we don't have any time to give a shit about?
If Vogel had been introduced in season 3 or something and had been a part of the show for longer, they'd get more of a reaction than: "well, that's a bummer".
It does feel like they just write the episodes as they go along. "Oh I have a cool idea for a new serial killer who is worse than any other before, can we introduce him in a single episode?" "Don't worry, we'll invent, kill and resurrect him within five minutes."
Sorry, but this piece of shit show feels like one giant Apple commercial now.

Was anyone else annoyed how Dexter would leave the hospital without his tools? You would think that they were sacred to him or something.
Debra must have teleported there, giving him no time to clean up his stuff.

He specifically said that he wanted to leave them there. I mean, if he's giving up killing, I guess he doesn't need them anymore.

Okay just re-watched that, must really be tuning this out until it ends.
That ending turn of events seemed pretty dumb overall though.

It's funny how people have to keep saying that every fucking week. Yes, bb is a better show. WE KNOW. Learn from your mistakes and stop doing it in that order, or just quit watching if it's that unsufferable. If you are one of those people who hate the show but still HAVE to know how it ends, why bother discussing it on forums? <.< (Not intended as an attack on you specifically btw, just quoted this one because it was the most recent)
I partly agree with that, but I also can understand the frustration of viewers who, every week, kinda hope the show will get back at least slightly closer to what Dexter used to be (even though everyone must be aware it's extremely unlikely).
This season is a complete disgrace

Okay, after much deliberation, I have a brilliant idea on how to give this show an entertaining ending. Since obviously, this show isn't fun for anyone watching anymore, what if the last episode was just a sequence of random, senseless shit, each more absurd than the former? Allow me to elaborate:
- While running, Saxxon bumps into Elway, who kills Saxxon. - Deb sees it and immediately starts banging Elway. - Dex was taking a dump in the hospital bathroom, comes out, sees this, and decides to join in. - Hannah teleports outta nowhere, is furious but decides to join also. She and Deb realize that they actually belong as a lesbian couple and Hannah scraps all plans to leave. - Dexter blames Elway and Deb for Hannah leaving him and decides to kill Elway in front of Deb. - But Quin has been following Deb because of her distant behavior, and finds out the truth about Dexter and thinks it's awesome because he would have liked to have done the same to Zach. - Dex trains him in the way, and Quin decides that the first guy to kill is Dex and kills him. - Quin, now having inordinate urges to kill, learns about Deb's involvement with Maria's death, and kills Deb. - Jamie learns about Deb's death and moves in with the now available and horny Quin - the new Hannah/Dexter couple.
After exactly 4 days, Quin randomly kills Jamie for being so damn annoying. The last scene is Harrison running on a treadmill. It goes dark, we hear a very loud thud, but no crying. The end.
Something along those lines. Now, wouldn't that be more entertaining?
Also, I'm open to suggestions on how to kill off Quin.

Batista finds out Quin killed Jamie, puts his head on a spike at the door to his bar. Batista goes on to become new Dexter using gang contacts to expand his vigilante network.

What if ALL THE 8 Season were a dream and Dexter wakes up as a child in the container. And Doaks enters and arrest him for the murder of his mother. Now that's a plot twist the current writers might come up with, oh wait, not predictable enough.
|
Holy shit what a lame villain this Saxon guy is xD. It's like, he gets implicated in a murder (quite easily) and his only reaction is a brief: "fucking Dexter..."
Then he gets caught in the most predictable setup ever. It was like how Dexter caught Brian Moser in s1 but far worse. I thought this guy was supposed to be brilliant?

Yeah, you can't just introduce the super bad guy in five minutes and expect anyone to care.
The beauty about Trinity was how there was an entire season dedicated to him and he went slowly from being just a psycho to being a well-rounded and threatening character.
Saxon was introduced in five minutes:
"Oh I had a son but he died." "Oh the guy nobody cares about didn't die after all." "Some weird computer program confirms my suspicion."
Pathetic...

Haven't watched Dexter...ever, so I was wondering is it worth watching the whole series from the start because I see a lot of people are frustrated they started the show in the first place? I mean I haven't invested years into it so... is it worth it? Not that many good shows around

Watch season 1-4, you may skip season 3 but it still has some random good episodes in it.

This has got to be the most awful season of anything I have ever seen and by far the most dramatic decline in terms of quality compared to the first two seasons. I cannot comprehend how in the world did the screenwriters for this abomination got the job in the first place (and I bet they will continue to in the future as well, somehow).
I try to stay as positive as possible and not to nitpick too much, but this has been bad beyond my wildest nightmares. I think it would actually take more effort to make this season ever worse than it already is now, than to fix it just enough to make it enjoyable.

I can't explain how it's not below 50, either.

It's awesome and one of the greatest series of recent years imo, but you should consider to stop watching at the end of season 4 or something.

Because the critics are based on the first few episodes which were still okayish.
