Solar panel recipes have never really been a gregtech thing, it was either compact solars or advanced solars which are both addons (Technically, so is gregtech) - advanced solars got on the gregtech bandwagon and made the recipes really hard (The 8eu/t one requires Iridium & Sunarium now). On top of that, I'm not entirely sure which version of gregtech some of you have last used. In the newest version(s) of gregtech it does a few amusingly crazy things by default:
Logs --> 2 Wood instead of 4 --> 2 sticks instead of 4 Metal tools require plates made with a hammer (made of refined iron or bronze initially, uses up durability) and also require a hammer and a file to create (a file requires yet another metal plate, and has durability like a hammer) Flint and Steel now requires a steel nugget instead of an iron ingot, which basically makes the fastest way to get to the nether to luck out on finding steel in a dungeon/village. Stone and wood tools have a tiny fraction of their former durability.
All of these options are of course configurable. (I imagine if Serejai does decide to include Gregtech they'll all be turned on though )

I thought many people were boycotting gregtech? Apparently there was some drama between him and other modders. With him writing in a code that would intentionally crash users who used Tinker's Construct. He has since removed that code already though.

Oh, I didn't know about the solars. I've always had large packs of mods, so I'm probably confused about what comes from where.
And the nether nerf I feel is justifiable in that it's much harder to acquire free energy as quickly. The wood was kind of dumb though, always turn that off nowadays, myself. ^^

Server is being finalized right now. Will post a list of URLs to mod wikis shortly, as well as send out PMs later tonight with download links and server IP.
|
Tips for getting started:
- Don't leave the starting area at night time. There is a small hut to afk in if you happen to first join the server during night.
- Make sure to kill a few ostriches or fish before venturing out. Hunger WILL kill you and food is quite scarce early game - especially while you're exploring.
- All difficulties are set to HARD. This includes all mods with difficulty settings. Monsters will destroy you without good equipment so don't even try fighting them without a full set of gear and weapon.
- Snakes, bears, and some other neutral mobs will attack if startled or provoked.
- Werewolves take reduced damage from non-gold/silver weapons. It's a good idea to always carry one with you.
- Wraiths can set you on fire. It's a good idea to always carry a bucket of water with you.
- Ogres and Golems do very, very high damage and have large aggro ranges. Stay away.
- Base metals are INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE to use for tools. Make one iron pickaxe and go find gems or non-base metals. Those recipes are much cheaper.
- Rain is poisonous. Stay indoors.

I left out some mods because NEI handles them fine and there's not too much to read into (ie EnderStorage)

Yes, GregTech is working. Fixed our issues with Aether II and Mists of RioV as well, so those will be added next Thursday and open up five new dimensions + a bunch of mobs and items.

Welp, there goes my free time for the next month at the minimum.
Don't know what I will do this time though.

Help your brother out. Make him do all the manual labor while you play mad scientist in the base.

Don't give people ideas. I have five siblings I could press-gang into a mining crew. If you enable me, we're going to have a slave trade.

Installation and connection info has been sent out to everyone who sent me a PM. If I missed you and/or you haven't tossed me a PM yet, see me on IRC.

Oh, I forgot one thing. Make sure to press M and set Death Point to Enabled in your minimap config when you first join. It will make life much easier.

It's not like the monsters are really scary and strong and you will die a lot, promise!
