For those who haven't played Minecraft in a while (not focusing on you specifically, Fluffy, since others might want to know the changes), the following adjustments have been made to zombies in recent patches:

Zombies aggro onto the player from 40 blocks away, increased from 16 blocks.
Zombies set on fire from sunlight/fire/lava can potentially set the player on fire if the zombie touches him.
Zombies (and skeletons) have a rare chance to spawn with weapons and armor that may or may not be enchanted; this equipment has a chance to drop as loot for the player to use.
Zombies have a chance to resist the small "knockback" effect that occurs when the player attacks them; they can no longer be reliably killed by punching them and preventing them from getting closer, as they will sometimes just keep on coming.
If a zombie is attacked by the player, all zombies within a significant radius of the player will converge on him to attack.
Zombies have a chance to summon an additional zombie as reinforcements when attacked. The summoned zombie, spawned in an 80x80x80 cube around the first zombie, also has a chance to summon reinforcements, but the probability of doing so decreases with every summon.
Zombies spawns have a small chance to materialize as baby zombies. Baby zombies have the same attack and defense stats as normal zombies, but are much quicker, and do not take damage from sunlight (probably a bug). Baby zombies are therefore way more dangerous due to their ability to close the distance quickly, but they're also much less common.

Now, that's a lot of buffs, but fighting zombies isn't all that different from before. The main changes in combat are staying aware of your surroundings, and not assuming the coast is clear when one zombie dies, since others may be on their way to attack you. Therefore, the general rule is that if you kill one zombie, you will have to kill all the zombies in the area, since they all home in on you. When a zombie spots you, run for an area that is best suited for combat, kill it, and bunker down for a zombie horde; if you relax after defeating the initial zombie, you'll be caught off guard when the others arrive. Only once they're all dead should you resume your normal activities.

Or, once you have the materials for an iron door, you can just do in-base stuff during zombie sieges without fear of baddies breaking down the entrance and swarming you.

PSA: Even when they most of the time can't come through bamboo, Zombies will eventually find a way to glitch through. A bamboo house is a bad idea!

Just curious, no griefing? Just playing SMP for funsies? I don't mind giving it a shot if the ping isn't too bad (I'm from singapore).

edit: oh and any chance for Thaumcraft? Love thaumcraft lol

No griefing. Ping *should* be ok. I've had people from Singapore play before.

Thaumcraft will be added eventually. It's not updated for 1.6 yet.

Hey Obsidian, just a head's up I think the Thermionic Fabricator does work, it just requires way more power than default settings. Based on reading the configs, I think it will require 8MJ/t instead of the default 2MJ/t.

Have some food farms working, quadrupple spider spawner, horse&donkey stable and a fancy house!
