NA tournament scene on the other hand....
What will the poor middling Korean pros do now that they have to compete with the top ones all the time?
A scene that rewards the elite is better than a scene that rewards low tier players. It's a dog eat dog world, and many players will have to end their careers and move on to other things, but in the end it's for the best. SC2 will become the true pinnacle of skill in the esports world.

man and when i was saying this guy was only in the scene for free publicity i got banned on tl for a week.
Anyone who thinks anything Totalbiscuit does is for anything other than publicity obviously hasn't payed attention to what youtube celebrities are still relevant and how they stayed relevant. You can't blame him, he is really smart about how he stays relevant and great at marketing himself, but can we really stop pretending he is some Sc2 martyr.
I'm glad the SCII bubble finally burst. Having an unsustainable system is really bad for everyone the longer it keeps inflating. Sure its nice in the short term but you got to let the game be what the game be in the grand scheme of things.
Same, I am sick of the inflated pro scene and walking on glass community we have made in fears of popping the "bubble" maybe now we can have fun events with good personalities without this esports hubris we have cultivated.

Why? Because you supported an esports organization and allowed it to maintain itself? MLG is one of the only companies in esports that actually has black number and a lot of employees that actually get to work in esports thanks to people like you who bought ppv pases. I can understand people being mad that star 2 is not at one event (btw where did they say they'd never ever do starcraft again!?), but there is a reason IPL is gone and NASL would have been too if it wasn't for blizz giving them s2, while MLG is still here. In fact it's the oldest NA esports organizer that is still in the business, so they must be doing something right.
Plus TB may actually be leaving star 2 casting which to me is the best thing that has happened since kespa switched over.

There's a difference between being a starcraft youtube personnalities and what TB does. :/

Guys, I don't get the hate on TB. The man has done a TON for the scene. Genna and him funding a whole squad, Shoutcast NA etc. If he needs a break right now (he's been vocal about WCS and understandably frustrated) that's his decision - but, please, even if you disagree him or dislike his direct way of saying stuff or whatever, always remember what he's done for SC2.

Love the wall of text by Incontrol but to be honest its making me want to switch to Dota2 full time in the sense of trying to find a team and take it more seriously while playing SC2 on a casual level once in a while.

People seems to have this weird idea that he did it selfishly. I don't know where it come from.. Perhaps Incontrol did say that a long time ago when the two of them hated each other.

I guess MLG has embraced the 'pay us to show your games' business model. +1 the live events are not profitable. they must be propped up by the publisher.
although, Sundance has to steer carefully around this land mine because ATVI is a multi-headed monster.

man and when i was saying this guy was only in the scene for free publicity i got banned on tl for a week. And you deserved it. The man is voicing his concerns about the state of SC2 and talking about his options. And he is larger than his team. But he did do more for the community and for players than almost anyone out there.

A lot of them qualifed and it put a dent in things. That is the problem, so much flying and not enough time playing games. Most players spend more time between events, because there are so few.

If Obama said on national television "Starcraft is cool, go check it out" he would have done more for the scene than anyone else. It still wouldn't make him some hero for the scene.

when sc2 was in a moment of despair with it being dropped by mlg and all sc2 personalities like day9 and artosis and incontrol were all over social media trying to calm the fans and find sollutions totalbicsuit wa son reddit anouncing he would drop sc2 casting entirely and now he is on a show saying he will switch to dota2.you do not hit a man while he is down just as you do not hit a game while it is down.this is like a woman marrying a man and the same day the guy loses his job she divorces him for the colleague that got the job instead of him.on the streets we call em golddiggers.and totalbiscuit showed his true colors today.
@plansix
wrong.artosis,tasteless,day9,husky,hdstarcraft and maybe some others did more than him.

I know you have super excited for you change to hate on TB, but he has a right to bitch. He has done more for the community than most and get nothing but hate about it. I listen when he says stuff, even if I don't totally agree.

I think flights to and from Korea run like $1,500 a pop and I am not even sure if that is both ways. If he has 5 players in, thats about half of that cash right there.

It seems that SC2 is dying. LoL and Dota2 are getting more and more popular these days. Hell, as an e-sport spectator, I think that SC2 HoTS is boring as shit to watch these days.

It is pretty depressing that the only 1v1 esport that is popular is declining now too, some of us just don't like team games.
