If minion pathing is messing you up that much I'd try ghost. Ghost Udyr can be scary even though he can't instantly cc someone the way he does with flash because he sticks better. I remember running cleanse ghost udyr top and split pushing a lot back in my newbier days.

I remember running cleanse ghost udyr top and split pushing a lot back in my newbier days. Pretty sure they don't stack since afaik no dots stack like that. Which is a problem, but the dot is only 2 secs so you could space it out, although it would make getting off the full burst tough. If my terrible math is right, with a red elixir udyr could start with ~90 AD at lvl 1 which would mean if you get off both full dots on a double tiger you do 510 damage before resists, not counting any additional autoattacks.

That looks right: 510 damage. Obviously this isn't enough to kill anyone when armor is taken into account, but with ignite might be pretty scary. In fact not having armor/hp seals/quints and your opponent having them might let them trade just fine with you at level 1.

I thought this is what was meant in the original question. Sorry if that was unclear when I added my 2c.

Trinity Force -or- IBG edit- I should add that the new changes to Udyr in the PBE have lowered his early game mana costs but he no longer gains mana from Turtle stance. His attacks supposedly can 'crit' while in turtle now. They also removed the 4% arm/mr gains on his passive and added 5 MS instead.

and if you're jungling usually one of the spirit stone items in a vaccuum its hard to tell because it depends on their comp but id say trinity usually.

It's also cheaper and much easier to finish with a solid build path but I only build it if they are all AD teams and when you're vs a melee physical heavy team you can abuse the AoE damage a bit more as well as using the shield strength to good use if you have 200-250 armour. If you really want the MS I'd say trinity is a way better investment even if you have to fork out an extra 1k if you want the move speed you probably want the slow and burst damage from trinity as well because it doesn't matter how much ms you buy diminishing returns means you get screwed over anyway and it just takes a couple CC spells to stop you in your tracks. Also I think with level 5 bear stance more cdr is compareable to more movement speed anyway since theres such a huge difference between it being off and on. It's up all the time with max cdr. Locket+nashors+frozen fist is the best way to get max cdr and stop divers in their tracks but I usually stick to 30% and get other items because frozen fist is kinda meh until later on when that slow field means a lot with everyone bursting each other in 2 seconds.

Is it ever worth it to build a real AD item in your core items (BT, BC, or Maw) when maxing Tiger stance? I've always just build full tank with just a TF/IBG for damage.

Top lane Tiger can be stroner, but if the PBE changes go through Phoenix>Tiger in almost all cases imo. If you want an offensive item, best options are usually Nashor's, Wit's (Phoenix only), or Triforce (Phoenix or Tiger both work). Generally you want to be as tanky as possible 'cause Udyr already has plenty of damage. His weakness is sticking onto his target and being tanky enough to get to your target helps with that. I guess stuff like BT/BC could work on lane Tiger Udyr, but only if you're getting crazy fed.
