What a great mentality rather then try to do something we'll just complain and accept it and tell people gtfo typical considering they don't actually have to show results to get paid and are getting paid salary.
Also its obvious djwheat is a TWITCH employee not someone who generally cares about the sc2 scene as he said the overall revenue for streams are up and sc2 is lower. Obviously you're just an idiot. IdrA and InControl are from BW. PainUser has an FPS background. DJWheat basically dabbled in everything for over a decade. And every single one of them knows what it likes when E-Sports was nonexistent. People like you want to pretend that the sky is falling and SC2 is doomed, but the scene today is still thousands of times better than 3 years ago. I think that was his point, they're living off of their OLD names. The names they established prior to sc2. incontrol would be just another masters/gm player on the NA ladder and IdrA would be that guy who was good when nobody had build orders and timings figured out. Taking away their brood war names, practically takes away everything. They still act like they run Starcraft 2 though, it's an EG mentality. Once again, this is completely idiotic. They had no names before SC2. This isn't a statement about their skill or their popularity, it's a statement about the E-Sports scene. Brood War was gigantic in Korea, but that was essentially the only video game that was a sustainable business anywhere in the world.
Sure, IdrA and iNcontroL were two of the biggest foreigners in Brood War, but the size of the foreign fanbase means that's the equivalent of being a very low foreign B-Teamer right now.
Once again, the size of the SC2 scene as it is right now is still thousands of times larger than E-Sports pre-SC2, aside for BW in Korea.

why is it people keep calling me masters? It's the one thing you actually can't make fun of me for.. I am GM. It's a rank I get each time I ladder. I am fucking GM. CALL ME GM and then specify "WELL IT'S NA" if you want to try and hurt my feelings. But wtf.. stop calling me masters! I was #1 Masters when I played korea and I was #1 masters when I played EU hitting GM's in both.. so I guess call me a masters on there lol (playing from NA)

Incontrol, why are you trying to confuse this thread with facts?!?!? The community hates those and they have no place in this thread.

Yeah man, the only person I like more than Destiny is djWHEAT. I enjoy the other 3 too, especially Geoff. That guy has cracked me up so many times, it would be impossible to count. It's almost like being a professional in this scene is like swimming with sharks, the first scent of blood they pick up... yeah, you get the idea.
Not too long ago djWHEAT ended up doing some crazy marathon of traveling and casting a tournament while being sick (my memory is hardcore foggy) and it blew my mind how hard he works. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up getting some insanely powerful energy drink named after him, haha.

Incontrol is a way better sc2 player than most people on TL think.

When you want to defend a unpopular point, especially when you're going up against the player with probably the biggest fanbase, you better be ready for some flak from the community, Wheat with his experience in the field should have been able to anticipate these reactions, and to be honest I assumed he could take it just fine, I'm guessing you don't become a E-sports dinosaur without growing a somewhat thicker skin.
Here's hoping he can get over the drama and do a show tonight, his passion is both the reason he's good at this and can flip out like that, I personally found it kind of humanizing, really don't see how the Destiny fanboys can have problems with that as Destiny himself is a master of flipping the fuck out.
Much strength to the ItG cast, drama is just drama, letting it get to you won't change shit.

It's beyond me how Destiny receives so much clout. djWHEAT has produced more for e-sports and he ever has. Destiny is is just spreading fear and damaging the community, he has no stake in sc2. All this drama is pretty pathetic to me.
On with the show djWHEAT, keep doing your thing!

I think both DJWheat and Destiny have the same intention: 'Make a living doing what I love.'

Well if you think Destiny is doing what he loves, then he doesn't love playing Starcraft because he stopped that.

Come on then, do some comparisons. Because my data is from different time for different players (if they are no direct user), that would not be fair. Also From Opponents i only have single values without context. So i can not calculate the error margin down. However Inconrolls account was always very high in NA when i last look the whole database up (around 2 month ago)

So Destiny is running a campaign of terror?? lol (not LoL). He has plenty invested in SC2 continuing to grow.
Wasn't impressed with anyone other than Painuser. There's an interesting line to walk between professional behaviour (however you view that) and being yourself. Talent/knowledge in SC2 aside Idra, Geoff, djWheat and Destiny all have personalities that have attracted supporters. When do they need to dial things back to acknowledge the important role they play in the scene, esp if they are wanting to improve the profressional aspect of it??
I'll never fault anyone for being passionate about something but it would have been better to see a more reasonable debate. I guess that was unlikely to happen as all involved know each other pretty well and their patterns of communication are well established. Idra will get short and rip you a new one if you are acting a fool (in his eyes), Geoff will throw poo and look for opportunities for humour, and Destiny will get wound up by people taking a seemingly fixed position. djWheat losing his nut was OTT in my eyes - I like him and respect him, but that was embarassing imo. Lots of ways to say you think Destiny acted like a douche without losing your mind. Plus is minimised poor behaviour by others on the show...
Destiny made a mistake by going full retard as soon as he hit the show - maybe he was wound up by the comments prior to him calling in? But Idra and InControl certainly stirred the pot once it was underway. Who can argue the loudest isn't really conducive to a good debate, which is a pity as all involved had some interesting points.
It'll blow over until the next flare up - seems similar mistakes are doomed to be repeated in the SC2 scene. I'm hoping we'll see people grow up a bit but I ain't holding my breath
|
It's funny how everyone is on the Painuser train even though before this episode everyone wanted him off the show because he never had anything substantial to say and his game knowledge was lacking.
