He improved Cosmo's WR by 2:44 and still lost something like 6 minutes only counting the big mistakes. 4:45:00 isn't just about perfect plays now, it's clearly doable in the next weeks.
And Cosmo just took it back, 4:46:23. Some obvious places to improve as well, 4:45:00 is very doable. WW really has been one of the best games to follow recently.
That Crazy Cosmo, even when he's learning a whole new game hes still setting records for other games
I mean, most speedrunners do that. It's quite a common occurance to run one game while learning another. I'm beating Left 4 Dead records while learning DMC 3 and I'm a terrible speedrunner.
Drazerk from here got his Kingdom Hearts run while learning and running FFIX and for Exo & coolkid, learning three games while breaking records in others is normal.
I'm not to downplay Cosmo in anyway, I'm more trying to build up the rest of the speedrunning community.
As for the previous note about why Jorf doing the 6xPokemon thing being in this thread: Jorf is a speedrunner and he got tweeted by another. It's not technically a speedrun but it's very relevant as a lot of speedrunners are messing around with multiple games on one input recently.
It's not like he stopped playing WindWaker to learn other games, he always kept up to date with it. And WW is always changing because of new glitches, so the WR will keep changing hands even with far from perfect runs. Both Cosmo and Demon9 can easily break this new WR, it will probally won't take long at all. It's not like SM64 where execution has to be almost perfect, no big mistakes (or even a couple of them) and a little bit of luck is all it takes.
For those of you who can't wait for AGDQ, there will definitely be some online marathons between now and then. There are two coming up but this weekend is a Speedrun Spooktacular (I didn't name it) with the procedes going to paying a long time speedrun contributors medical bills.
Well I finally got a run where I didn't have any unnecessary deaths to Antlion / Stalwart blade... unfortunately I died to Land Armour on day 354 but that only cost 1 minute - http://i.imgur.com/Wpn1W.png?. The notable improvements were:
New Antlion phase 2 skip saved the most time in the run
Thanks to a route change in my previous run (Synthing the phantom blade++) I had more than 112 magic which is all I had when I was first routing the game meaning I could 3 fires to take out each tail piece on ruler in the sky where as before it took 4 which was unreliable.
Hi jump+ a suggestion by Elren on the SDA forums saved me a good minute on day 321
Actually using auto life (Again thanks to Elren) costed me a minute on Guard Armour but I ended up saving more time over all using a different strategy for Leech grave allowing me to use two final limits during his "dead phase" leaving him with two bars of HP which I took out using my older strategy. Auto life also saved what would of been a run ender on Crimson pranksters.
All in all a PB is a PB even if I'm not that happy with how the run turned out.
Auto-life is a nice thought ! And just looking at those splits, sub 4:30:00 in less than a month. :p Anyway, -16:00 is always good to take, even when you're not satisfied. I don't even know if speedrunners are really satisfied with their runs sometimes.
Werster just broke his Crystal WR: 3:30:54 RTA timing (3:24 in game time)
As for auto life it was funny how it was suggested as a safety tip and I ended up using it to kamikaze through every mission with no healing items / cures. The overall time loss from using the ability wasn't a big deal in the end though since I made up more time being reckless.
im not a speedrunner myself, but im currently playing mark of the ninja and it seems to be really good for speed running. if anyone is looking for a new game to do speed runs on, you should check it out

MST no WW/RBA is probably the friendliest to learn. However if you don't want to have to deal with DoT skip I'd say all child dungeons is pretty fun and interesting (Although I believe it now requires a cut scene skip after Gohma)

I actually just figured out the DoT skip, took me a bit though.
