It's a simple matter; he made a stupid joke, he apologizes, he won't do it again, we move on. Him apologizing and people coming out and acknowledging the fact that it was not acceptable is an important part of moving on.
Frankly, I would be totally ok with that. What I find disturbing is mainly the part when they say the subject is still open, and they don't know what the final word of this story will be. It implies that there is much more, that it needs serious decision, that some people will have to meet, to decide what is wrong and what punishment he trully deserves. To sum up, what they are saying is that they will judge him. I am not ok with that, not for that kind of action. It feels wrong.
What's so wrong about that? If they find out what he said to be the truth, ofc more story is coming. Nobody is 100% sure he's telling a joke, especially businessman. They can't say this thing is over, then find out police has more to say about the story, they need to leave the door open at least, even if it is just a diplomatic gesture.

Ill just quote myself here: The reason why I brought up the fact that it isnt funny is that when it isnt funny, its not even obvious its a joke at all (especially since the actual words spoken by stephano are entirely possible to be true in that he couldve had sex with a 14-year old the other night). I certainly wouldnt interpret it as one if I just read those words, especially when the followup is:
a: Fuck I hope youre not broadcasting this right now.
I mean what kind of an idiot tries to salvage the situation by making it crystal-clear that hes worried, which in turn furthers the suspicion that it might have had some truth to it. That type of stupidity, in conjunction with blings facial expressions, is pure comedy gold.
In all honesty I think they just write that because they want to make it clear that his punishment, ie the suspension, is under the assumption of it being a joke, not that hes being suspended a month because he agreed to having sex with a minor and that if further evidence comes up, different measures may be taken. This is obviously not the best way to say it and I agree that it has a bad ring to it because it insinuates that he may very well be guilty of something more. And I dont think one is entitled to do so, unless they know something we don't, which I doubt they do.

Ok, being out of line and all that is true, and rammification and PR campaign, OK, but JESUS christ people, are you kidding me?
Some of you are actually upset because of he RAPED a girl? I know in legal terms he did (if he wasnt just bullshitting) but have some common sense ffs, 14 year old girls are pretty much grown ups, at least as much as a 19 year old boy is, for sure. My best friend started dating his GF when she was 15, and he was 6 years older, and there s absolutely nothing wrong with him, he s one of the most honorable and normal person i know. Girls grow up quicker than boys, i clearly remember in highschool every single attractive girl dated almost exclusively guys who were a couple of years older.
Stop being so butthurt about it, if anything, he s childish and stupid, definitely not an adult pedophile.... GOD...

This story has really run its course, I'm a bit puzzled why anyone feels the need to carry on any more arguments in here. And before you call me hypocritical for posting, someone had to say it .

14 is not 12. At 14, most teenagers have a sexual life, have known love and are fairly emancipated of their parents. A lot of people around me have had their first sexual relations at age 14.

Oh okay, let's just remove any laws concerning this then, since you know people that had their sexual awakening at 14. We shouldn't frown upon adults having sex with 14 year olds, clearly there is nothing wrong here. I mean, 14 is basically like 19 is basically like 30. Little girls are fair game once they've had their first period.

I don't know what kind of 14 year old girls you have been around, but I would not say that I have ever seen a 14 year old girl that I would consider "pretty much grown up", not even close.
Quoting examples of successful such relationships doesn't actually prove anything, it's not hard for an 18+ year old to put up with the immaturity of a younger girl if they are getting laid.
It's their own choice (most of the time) sure, but if the law is against it and you get caught you will still have to suffer the consequences.

In a country like Iceland, the average age of the first sexual intercourse is 15. Lots of little boys and little girls having sex, probably because it's cold, ya know?
14 is certainly young, but an absolutely standard age today for starting your sexual life.

I don't know what fantasy world you live in, but if I was a betting man, I'd put money on the fact that the majority of 14-year-old teenagers (lets just take teenagers in western developed countries to eliminate cultural differences) do NOT have a sexual life yet. Furthermore, it's laughable to claim that most 14-year-olds have known love. Most young adults haven't even known love, let alone someone who is only 14. Teenage angst and rebellion should not be confused with autonomy. The vast, vast majority of 14-year-olds still need their parents for pretty much anything, and if they were faced with a real problem calling for true independence, they'd run to their parents in a heartbeat. Finally, 14-year-olds are still woefully immature. Of course you can come along with random anecdotal evidence saying that you've met immature young adults or you've met young couples with 6+ years separating them and they've worked, but this doesn't change the fact that a 19-year-old has gone through a LOT more in life when compared to a 14-year-old, on average. Not only this, 14-year-olds can hardly be considered adults. Sure, intellectual capacities are growing considerably, but young teens are still pathetically impressionable and have little grasp on how the adult world actually works. 14-year-olds usually lack a firm grasp on the idea of true consequences to actions. 14 is also when girls are right in the middle of puberty (drastic changes in hormones and the body causing rash decisions and emotional swings) and boys are probably just beginning it.
Of course, this doesn't mean that we baby young teenagers, but to claim that a 14-year-old is pretty much an adult is absolutely ridiculous in western culture. This isn't the Middle Ages where (especially as a woman) you were probably out on your own and literally expected to be an adult (probably married) by 14. Kids are much more protected these days (obviously to their benefit, but it's up for debate how long we should "protect" kids and consider them minors in every respect), and you really can't consider teenagers adults, oftentimes until they get to 18/19/20.

Like, it affects you, it changes something for you to the point where you have to make a judgment and all the drama? That's awesome. By the way, he does not represent any company, and he is not a figurehead. He is not even an employee of his sponsors. He is supported financially, because the companies think it is profitable to be associated with him. You don't stop being a person just because you have a sponsor. And your sex life or bad jokes made in private are none of your sponsor's business. And not our business either. He is paid for playing starcraft not for being Jesus Christ. He is hired and works for EG and by that represents the team EG. EG is sponsored by sponsors and by that representing said sponsors, they even changed their official name to EG raidcall. Why do you think sponsors have so much power over teams? (this being a prime example) Like it or not, Stephano represents his sponsors.

Some of you are actually upset because of he RAPED a girl? I know in legal terms he did (if he wasnt just bullshitting) but have some common sense ffs, 14 year old girls are pretty much grown ups, at least as much as a 19 year old boy is, No, they're really not. What the fuck. Yes they are. I have known couples of 19 or 20 / 15 that were working just fine. I even had a college friend who married his girlfriend who was 15 when they started. Don't tell me the few months make all the difference. 14 is not 12. At 14, most teenagers have a sexual life, have known love and are fairly emancipated of their parents. A lot of people around me have had their first sexual relations at age 14. And? You need to have had the same amount of experience in life to have sex with someone? I guess my father should go in jail for marrying a 20 years old woman when he was 32.
Now on absolute age:
I had my first girlfriend at 15, I was very much in love and we had sex. Like half of people around me. You can play on words saying we didn't really know what love is or whatever. That's your opinion about love. Maybe it was not the deep love with which you found a family and make a whole life together. Don't care, agree, that's not what we are talking about.
If there are countries were the average of the first intercourse is 15, you can bet a huge amount of young people then have it at 14 or younger.

I don't know what planet you live on if you consider a 14 years old teenager as a "little girl". In a country like Iceland, the average age of the first sexual intercourse is 15. Lots of little boys and little girls having sex, probably because it's cold, ya know? 14 is certainly young, but an absolutely standard age today for starting your sexual life. Can you explain to me qhy it is ok for "teenagers" to have sex in the midst of puberty when hormones are clouding their judgement? Just check up on this thread to see what the consequences of "ohh, lets promote nakedness and sexiness for the kids" can result in.
Getting pregnant and having a child is the biggest responsibility you can ever put on yourself. Do you seriously think that its ok for kids to have kids?
In the novel DUNE there is a really nice scene, where Paul Atreides gets tested if he is a human or an animal. It is my firm belief that this test - although the testing scale (pain) - can be applied to us in the real world. Thus two teenagers filled with hormones are in no way "human beings" and in any case they arent responsible for their actions legally anyway. So they shouldnt have sex if the end result can be a baby.
I am waiting for your counterargument and dont come with any of the "they need to experience themselves" bullshit, because that is just saying that you think selfish behaviour is ok. We have loads of selfish idiots ruining our lives on a daily basis and this "oh I want to have fun" is just one more piece of it.

As depressing a stat as that may be, a stat you somehow seem proud of, it's not 14 year olds having sex with 14 year olds that irks me.
Telling me something is a good thing because it is standard is backwards thinking.
