Hah. I saw the thread title and immediately loaded up the song to post it.
always enjoy your blogs man!
also liked this: I always say, 'Does she make you a better man? If she doesn't and you don't for her, then forget about it, just enjoy the sex and the romance, but if you can sacrifice yourself to build a family around her, and she will be there to see you to the end, then marry her and stop asking me stupid questions and start making some babies.'
Thanks for sharing that with us. I look up to you a lot ><
While I'm far healthier than I've been in a while, as I've stopped smoking and drinking
Good for you!! Sleep is a different matter of course, but awesome to hear you've stopped that yo. (well stopped chronically drinking for no reason--obviously you just "have to" drink sometimes in meetings or something)
You're a lucky man and your wife is a lucky woman ^^
And I feel blessed to have the opportunity to read what you write.
Regret of lost opportunity always trumps comfort. Sacrifice trumps regret. Sounds like you're in a decent place. Hope to share some soju again one day.

I don't know how you managed but this paragraph takes the most complex issue in humanity and makes it seem clear as day in less than 25 words.
and a question, if the deal falls through and doesn't happen does your cycle of spending time away from your family repeat until you've made a big deal? or are you going to calm it down a bit?

All the best!
I'm having trouble aligning the first part of the thesis:
'Does she make you a better man? If she doesn't and you don't for her, then forget about it, just enjoy the sex and the romance,
With the second part
but if you can sacrifice yourself to build a family around her, and she will be there to see you to the end, then marry her and stop asking me stupid questions and start making some babies.'
I somehow can't put 1+1 together to connect "make you a better man" and "sacrifice yourself to build a family around her". They just don't seem necessarily equivalent to me.
@Denzil if the deal does fall through, then I'll be back with my family for a bit, until the next deal can get set-up, basically this has taken about 4 months to get to this point and that is relatively quick for a deal of this size. It's more of a matter that my professional reputation precedes me, so it was more of a matter, was I the better option that A, B, or C.
@haji haha, I see what you are saying, and I think it's because I left out a line
Does she make you a better man? If she doesn't and you don't for her, then forget about it, just enjoy the sex and the romance,
But if she does and
if you can sacrifice yourself to build a family around her, and she will be there to see you to the end, then marry her and stop asking me stupid questions and start making some babies.
For me, why the sentence in its original form makes sense is, the 'forget about it', part, thus the new context is, 'ok, yes, she makes you the better man, and can you do this she that and now stfu and make some babies. (which is the most important thing). ^^
I still think the sentence is better with the added phrase "but if she does and". This is because without it, you aren't drawing the proper contrast needed for the thesis to stand up properly.
(yes I'm a grammar Nazi and I enjoy thinking about syntax I'm reading a Haruki Murakami novel right now, and I've stopped reading it to think about this one passage where he uses, for the first time in the novel after 60+ pages, 俺 instead of 僕 as the first person pronoun for the protagonist.)
But anyways besides that, your thesis was quite enlightening, so thanks. (though the sheer unlikeliness of meeting someone who matches that criteria is somewhat depressing )
I'm gonna sit with my woman and just enjoy the watching the tide roll away, wasting time.
You know, you can do that without being beaten down several times, being the bloody beaten pulp who is just able to crawl over the finish line. Well, I guess we have just different kinds of conceptions. For me, you do not need to deserve to be happy (or how you wrote: "waste time") you can just be it. You don't need to be the best among the best of the world. Good enough is good enough.
Ohh, don't misunderstand me. I firmly believe someone already told you that. And its not the first time for me hearing/reading such conception. But it is, as always a pleasure, to hear franc, pure words - especially when they are contrasting me so harshly. Its good to know other peoples thoughts, may it be only for the purpose you know your own ones better though them.
Dude, I find it a bit hilarious that you were in the Philippines when the shitstorm happened and nearly everyone was flooded in. That's the only recent flood I remember and you were working here. Damn.
Mightyatom I haven't heard from you in a long time. I know you are a super hard worker. I hope things work out so that you can return back to your family. Its crazy to think that you have 2 sons now not just 1. keep on keeping on dude.
