Then the semifinals occur and the finalists get a week and a half to practice for the final. It makes sense when you realize we only have four months left in the year and GOM still needs to do GSL4/5 an Blizzard Cup. Yeah they reallllllllly dragged the last season out...

I'm sure the games will be awesome and the event will be spectacular. Can't wait ! It's great that you are so optimistic for the event, however for those of us that aren't it is important that we say that we think it's a terrible, horrendous, awful idea, so the decision makers at GSL and IGN don't ever try to repeat this. On the upside, I hope it means Tastosis will be at the event. It would be a welcome change, in my opinion, from the regular IPL casters, of whose style and banter I am not a fan.

Yea, all those GSL finals that go 4-3 are amazing! We had the good finals of Season 2 2012, but for the most part, we have one opponent show up ready and the other with his pants down. I respect the results of GSL far beyond any foreign tournament, but that has more to do with all the players involved. The games of foreign tournaments are far more exciting though.

Going through an open bracket and championship bracket is not the same as prepping until RO8 then playing overseas non prepped. Your comparison is extremely flawed... you may also want to note many of the builds Leenock used would not work in a normal GSL format. Nice attempt at baiting me though.

Fionn is posting how much time is being 'saved' doing it this way, and showing the reason why. Unless they change it then it is only on the weekend. Thats what alot of the uproar/discussion is about. No confusion, except on your part So I DID read it correctly the first time :/ Well that sucks then. Really sucks

On top of that GSL without the preparation period? Thats just another crappy long weekend competition I strongly disapprove. :/

No way in hell is such a player going to win any event... This. After WCS/MLG I've become increasingly wary about these multi-tournament events that happen in one weekend. The last multi-tourny event with GSL went really well, but hearing that the RO8 AND the Finals are being held together in one weekend with IPL makes me nervous that the players won't be playing their best throughout the weekend. Not only that, but I don't like the fact that GSL RO8 and the Finals are being held so close together. Changes in tournaments keep things fresh and interesting, but sometimes it just doesn't seem to be the sort of fresh or interesting change that needs to take place, especially if it may detract from the quality of games played by the end of the weekend. Hope IPL and GOMtv know what they're doing TT
