EPT Open #227: herO, Clem, MaxPax win

TL.net ESPORTS 4 Posts May 16 2024 03:02 GMT #1 2022-23 ESL Pro Tour - Open Cups: Week #227 (May 13th) by Wax Week #227 of the Open Cups gave us the 'standard' trio of winners, with herO, Clem, and MaxPax winning each of the three server competitions. The Korean server cup saw herO win for the second week in a row, going through a gauntlet of Bunny, NightMare, Classic, and Dark on his way to the weekly title. Trap, who was competing in his second week of cups since his return to active play, was felled by Bunny in the RO32. There was a sense of deja vu in the European server cup, with Clem, Spirit, HeroMarine, and MaxPax ending up the top four—the exact same group of players that contended for the championship in last week's EPT Europe regional. Just as in EPT Europe, the competition concluded with Clem beating Spirit and MaxPax to claim the championship. MaxPax bounced back in the Americas server cup, beating a series of Code S players in herO, Stats, and Dark to become the weekly champion. Trap, who fought his way to the RO8 in last week's cup, was unfortunately matched up against MaxPax in the RO32 and exited early. In non-ESL cup competitions, herO won Kung Fu Cup Summer #3 (3-0 against ByuN in the finals), while ByuN won KSL #50 (3-1 vs Dark in the finals).
