I don't see, even by stretching my imagination, how this could be in any way as good as a real GSL Ro8 + Semifinal + Final.
Less prepation for the players. Worst production crew ever (IPL), all stacked up in a week-end, so completly impossible to watch every game live if you have somewhat of a social life or some reponsabilities, players from korea will be jet lagged in a tournament that they normally participate in home country...
Not happy.

kr? Seed MC DRG Curious Squirtle and its 5-0 or 5-1 Yeah, seeing that there are only Protosses and Curious+DRG, Stephano might all-kill(he has winning record against DRG and Curious aswell).... U see Stephano killing 3x GSL Champions in row + Coda A 13-0 and Squirtle.....? Well i dont. They dont need terrans to own EU/NA
I dont think it is likely to happen but it could, did you see Squirtle vs Stephano at redbull arena ?
There are Stephano and NA/EU, but both are not the same thing

ye like i said before i like Stephano and Naniwa chances cause they are both Code S level but rest? ages behind....anyway GL GG
They rly gona play ro8 till finals in one weekend? WTF

They are still scheduled to announce the details for IPL5 today right?
|
Gonna have to agree with the first poster on this. I hope GOM is the one doing all (or most of) the production of this rather than IPL. I tried to catch the finals for the IPL team leagues and the audio was so horrible that I couldn't really hear anything at all. The problem was never alleviated during the broadcast despite the fact that they were working on fixing it. In any case, that means it'll be easier for us Americans to go to a GSL event.

What a terrible idea. Not happy with this.
The idea of preparing for an opponent is one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, factor in making a starleague great,

announcement is supposed to be today? looking forward to more details!

I hope GSL handles all the production, including IPL5. Really happy to see another world championship. Sad to see that the GSL Ro8 will turn into a generic NA/Eu tournament blitz.
|
ugh. squeezing Ro8 to finals is tough enough. but players who have to also play in the IPL and possibly in the 5v5 teamgame would have hell. so many back to back tournaments for a player to go thru on a single weekend. really dont like the combination of all these. this is not even talking about the usual exhaustion from playing in the different country. the finals will be whoever is less exhausted.
meh. finals will still be a gsl champion. but of a different sort. proleagues and gsl having a decent rest and preparation time are their unique selling points, than the usual weekend tournament slugfest.

Exactly my thoughts, Only in the GSL do you see meticulously prepared builds to kill a specific opponent but now we can't see that ;( IMO Taeja will win if he makes it to Ro8

so gsl ro8, ro4, and finals are going to be in one weekend?

David Ting @dting888 I will release the detail as soon as I can. We are waiting for the OK from one partner, but ETA is this week. See you at #IPL5.
soon! i want to see how they took the community feedback into consideration if at all (i assume their announcement was delayed from the 13th due to this)

It might have been a scheduling necessity due to the WCS Korea taking up this entire month for GSL, but it really pulls the rug out from under GSL players who rely on week-to-week preparation like Mvp and Nestea, and favors streaky players like MarineKing.
...wait, this means MKP could win a GSL.
I'm suddenly torn. Mvp has won multiple LAN style events, don't know what you're on about.

Wow. I know GSL finals tend to be lackluster events compared to the run-up to it, but I didn't think it was so bad that they needed cram that many rounds on top of another tournament. Am I missing something?

Gonna cross my fingers and hope this is something special. Because if it is, then we're gonna have an absolutely miraculous performance.

I just realized Sen was an up and down player before he went back to Taiwan. I'd like to see Sen at a few more tournaments and maybe he can be part of TEAM WORLD again

I like that we are kept informed, however, instead of saying 'We are about to announce IPL5', I just would not say anything. Announcements of annoucements often lead to disappointment, especially when you can not meet your own deadlines that you are saying in Public. What I just quoted was a Tweet from DTing all the way back from July 25th.
I understand that you can not always meet them but it is usually better to stay quiet.

ya i don't really like having round of 8 and finals so close, thought GSL was more about planning for your opponent
|
Lol i really hope Gom does production for the entire even and IPL just goes into a corner somewhere quietly.
