Complaints about moderation and freedom of speech are for the website feedback forums. They will be treated as being off topic and dealt with appropriately.
No more Iron Lady talk, no more gender debate. This is a thread about a StarCraft player. Last I checked what's in between your legs has no impact on how you play the game.
I agree with some of the comments here that the moderation on this thread has been dreadful. It's way too soft. I have gone ahead and simply deleted a bunch of comments that fail TL's community standards. Yes, those standards are determined by the mods. Yes, those standards are not perfect nor even uniformly applied. But we try our best. Spare us your righteous indignation over any notional impairment of free speech. This is a private site. It's a club. There is no "right" to free speech here. We only tolerate quality speech. By who's standards? Ours. Go read the TL Ten Commandments. And if you don't like this policy or our way of running our house, leave. - mensrea |

Irrelevant. She's a girl.
edit: like seriously do people genuinely think that if she has a cock and balls it somehow affects her starcraft play? this is so stupid.

Yeah that's really your business.

Back on topic, I think she could have done better with another team. She can be top tier and we don't even know it.
In the end we all start small.

Eclypsia is better than people give credit for, and, as I said before, she entertained offers from a higher-profile team and decided to go with EC because she liked the environment/players. It's not all about money and name recognition.

That is none of your damn business.

"Major sex differences in intellectual function seem to lie in patterns of ability rather than in overall level of intelligence (IQ). We are all aware that people have different intellectual strengths. Some are especially good with words, others at using objects-for instance, at constructing or fixing things. In the same fashion, two individuals may have the same overall intelligence but have varying patterns of ability. Men, on average, perform better than women on certain spatial tasks. In particular, men have an advantage in tests that require the subject to imagine rotating an object or manipulating it in some other way. They outperform women in mathematical reasoning tests and in navigating their way through a route. Further, men are more accurate in tests of target-directed motor skills-that is, in guiding or intercepting projectiles." http://www.dhushara.com/book/socio/kimura/kimura.htm
Seriously guys i cant believe that some of you didnt know that mens are biologicaly better in cognitive things like mathematical reasoing, spatial tasks, target directed motor skills, etc. And yes womens are better than mens in many things like perceptual speed, precision manual tasks, and many other things.
but as you might already understand, most things in wich mens are better depends at least slightly on speed, fast thinking etc wich basically gives them an advantage over womens in nearly every cognitive sports like chess with a clock or real time strategy games.

yes because playing for a korean team gives you salary and helps you travel to foreign events right? yeah you would pick a korean team over an international team but theres people in this world that has to pay for things, i know korean teams would be the better option to get better but you have to think about your future more shes doing fine without korean team

Being a male does appear to give some sort of benefit to Starcraft ability. Men completely dominate the sport.
It would be quite a strange coincidence that the first female with a decent tournament showing was born a male were that not the case.

Stop posting off topic. This thread is about Scarlett joining her new team. If you feel the need to discuss other matters do so in a different thread.

There's actually a science documentary from Norway "brainwash" with an episode on gender differences. Apparently differences between the genders are observable hours after birth. Males are more mechanically inclined, which seems to apply well to Starcraft.
I made a thread about it in the General forum.

EDIT: Sorry, just saw the above post after I posted.

The point is not that men and women aren't different - they are. The point is; what do some people hope to gain by focussing on her biological birth sex rather than her gender? A person *is* his/her gender, not his/her sex. In this case; she is a she.
Yes, there might be some biological advantage because she was born physically a man. So what? What do you hope to get out of it by keep focussing on it? What's up with that? It just seems like this sick focus on things that are different, hidden under a veil of 'we need to be correct!' Well; it doesn't matter, even if you are. Stop focussing on it. Scarlett has made it clear that this belongs to her personal life; please respect that.
FFS.
Edit: sorry, just saw the mod message now.

TL.net at its finest :D This thread is like WTF, seriously guys. Mods banning everything that is not a positive feedback. Someone saying she (or he, I don't really give a fuck, like it makes any difference) is top 4 foreigner. Do you really believe she is top tier player? And KR teams wanted to pick her? Get real FFS.

Awesome, good luck to him/her : )

I don't know about anyone else, but my support or interest in Scarlett's sc2 career, or anybody's sc2 career for that matter, is based on how the play the game, not their gender or sexual identity.
Congrats and good luck in the future!

This is awesome, welcome :D

Congratulations to Scarlett. It is nice to see that a player that are able to produce good results gets picked up fast, And in my opinion it was smart to go for a team that isn't considered as one of the top teams. As she has already stated she had other options, which probably was better, but the atmosphere in Eclypsia was what suited her the best.
Now, I don't know what the other teams where, but I think a lot of us would have gone for the biggest team that approach us purely to be recognized as EG.Nighty, or Quantic.Nighty, but I really respect Scarlett for going the path she felt was right, and hopefully the environment in Eclypsia will allow her to grow as a player and train in Korea as that was one of the things she wanted to do.
