Seeing that there is not a "simple questions simple answers thread" for this subforum, i had to create a new topic, i would like to ask TL mods why any posts regarding Athene are instantly closed.
He is doing an amazing thing and raising money for the dieing children in Africa, he is currently at 290k towards his 1 million goal. With 81 days left out of the 100 that he originally started with.
I really feel, and so do many, regardless of what you think of Athene, that awareness has to be raised around this project.
Mods : if you do delete this without a response i will be seriously disappointed in how this forum is run.

Boy, you sure are playing with fire here.. Why not just PM one of them?

Bring on the fire, its a TL account.

So you're asking to be a matyr?
Read the 10 commandments for the forums.

I'm asking why TL mods close threads about a charity, doesnt sound like a very compassionate thing to do to me.

Didnt know about these threads, thanks. 1eris1 and PassiveAce

Website feedback would be better. Do not use Ask TL staff anything- that's a get to know staff thread not a moderation complaint thread.
Insta-close Athene policy predates me being a banling so I don't really know. But it seems to me he's pariah on TL due to his attention seeking trolling. A charity event doesn't erase that. There's a lot of charities out there and TL doesn't need to suddenly back his.

Guess raising 290k in 19 days isnt enough for the incredible ~$80,000 that the starcraft 2 community has ever raised in its 2 year existence, glad to see TL being logical as always.
Pretty terrible excuse to say that it doesnt "erase that" as if this actually has anything to do with athene, all he is doing is SUPPORTING the event by streaming every day and actually going on a hunger strike for 4 weeks.
TL doesnt have to "back" anything, in fact, mods do actually LESS work than they are doing currently. This is a public forum, and it should act as such.
I'm in no way am i attacking you Falling btw, im attacking TL's policy on this matter.

It's actually a public forum but under the rules and decisions of Team Liquid. It's a priviledge to post here, a very basic one, but a priviledge nonetheless.
The reason Athene topics, of any kind, are typically dismissed is not because it's Athene (though, the two do overlap with previous topics being about him and really nothing much to discuss), but because TL doesn't want to be a space to plaster all forms of projects there. Athene's charity is great, all charities are! But to allow it on the forums would be to allow a non-community member's charities equally on the forums and then it builds from there.
It needs to have an actual connection to Team Liquid beyond the umbrella of video-gaming. If Athene was someone active on the forums as well as within StarCraft II majorly, I don't know; maybe staff would be more lenient.
That's my personal take on the issue

He seems to be doing fine without a topic of it on Team Liquid :3
I'll try and reiterate with examples.
- Previous Athene topic about how he was going to go to MLG and beat everyone/youtube video about his amazing endeavors posted by a variety of TL members = Closed 1. It's a YT link and no real discussion, 2. No real relevance, just entertainment and seeking attention.
- Charity Athene topics = Closed 1. Yes, Athene is about it and his track record isn't great here, but importantly 2. Another charity event helping XYZ organization or world issue from someone who isn't really personally connected to TL nor has any real connection to even StarCraft in general which leads to the topic just becoming another advertisement about a charity. Doesn't matter how much money was raised and the person who is raising it becomes less relevant in this case.

Yet, TL allows destiny to host his charity on TL. Does destiny post here? Like, ever? The only reason he comes to this website is for news and to stream, he doesnt add anything to the TL forums at all. Similar to athene.
Oh the irony.

No irony, Destiny comes from Team Liquid, performs interviews for Team Liquid and is personally intertwined with the community and on the forums (on top of that, he did a charity with Liquid Sheth, of course Team Liquid accepts that).
The rationale stands.

Oh the irony. Destiny is a member of this community, not someone that is basically a forbidden subject, kind of like Combat-EX or Deezer.

TL is also not just a starcraft forum, as indicated by the "sports and games" subtopic that encompasses all popular games.

It's not a public forum and so you have to view the rules as not entirely objective.

Team Liquid is a community formed with StarCraft as its direction, but acknowledges subcultures and groups with diversified interests.
So the commonality is that most people here enjoy StarCraft or support Team Liquid in one form or another. Sports and Games is acknowledging the variety of interests these members have (and accepting that their life and pastimes are more than just one game, but bridge friendships and relationships overcoming the singularity of it all).
The rationale stands.

He wants to know why.

I'm pretty sure there have been plenty of gaming charity events which have had threads on TL. Could be wrong, i have no evidence on this currently.
