I wont ask you to watch the video. But you can, because Athene explains it much better than i will.
The money he has raised so far is largely through 3 main sponsors, they all have given upwards of 10k each. And in athene's words "they have kept this event going", eventually, these people wont be able to give the kind of money that they have been giving. So athene is trying to reach out to online communities, especially gaming ones, to try and spread the support, but other forums have had the exact same response as TL's : "any thread involving athene = instant closed". I wanted to find out, specifically why TL decided to have this policy, and seeing that i'm quite involved in TL, i wanted to reach out and try to make a change, if i could.
That basically summarises why i made this thread, if anyone was wondering.
You are really fighting windmills here but I'm interested in finding out myself why Athene is a banned subject on TL, I do remember hearing all kinds of Athene related things back in my WoW days (yes I played it T_T).
You know what? This last post of you sound really ok and I hope you get a good answer. After your poor first posts where you were just agressive and martyring I really had a bad picture from you.
Just wanted to say thanks for the people that have brought this up and for the thread not being closed. The charity event is not about me, I couldn't care less wether I'm associated with it myself. That is why I have tried from the start to have sharecraft be a gaming event where I participate instead of an Athene event. But the lack of the response in the youtube / gaming world and the lack of seeing through my persona has been the main reasons that when sharecraft is mentioned, the threads end up being an Athene discussion. I hope that people will take there time to look into the charity and perhaps be inspired to help out wether it's through sharing or whatever. The hunger crisis is the worst in 60 years in the region and achieving such a big goal would raise the awarenes required to help kids out. We live at a time where no innocent childs should starve from hunger.

Hello Athene.
So what's your opinion on the closing of the thread?
I'm pretty sure the policy stems from the fact that TL.net hates attention whores. I think Athene is funny sometimes, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he is an attention whore. Sure, this time it is for a great charity (and I think a thread on just the charity should be allowed), but usually, threads on Athene are just about some obnoxious statement or video he makes. It is the same with CombatEX. He was a really annoying and obnoxious attention whore, so he and all threads on him were banned. Then he started making SC2 video guides (they were actually pretty good), but because of his past, he and all threads on him are still banned.
Honestly, I don't trust his OPShareCraft fundraiser.. simply because back in the day he setup a website for university of gaming which he charged $1000 euro's for people to register.. at no point did he hint at it being a troll or anything, they had a fully created website for it and everything.. so if it wasn't a troll it was a scam.
Also his fans are kinda ignorant on the fact that hes not even a pro gamer.. most of his fans actually believed he was the best sc2 pro gamer.. rofl.

I thought the same at first but it goes through too many public channels, and is too big, to be a scam. The donations go through a website he doesn't own and then on to the charity organisation. He's had the owners of the charity live on his stream to talk about it, and the amount of money is so large now that he'd be risking his life if it turned out a troll/scam.
Because tl has become a business. A failing one at that, sad for such a great start when sc2 was released. I guess greedy and massive ego admins are quite the turn off for the gaming community.
