At any point of IEM Kiev, if you think of an interesting byline, please drop a sentence in the Pro Scene thread. (e.g. "Day 2: M5 hype was everything people expected") At the end of the month, I'll catalogue the results of Kiev but also any interesting facts or events that happen over the course of the tournament. Thanks. Neo, 20.1.2012 |

Hey guys, just now had the chance to grab a PC here. What an exhausting but amazing event. Let's not all hate on TRM--there's a lot more to it than a single player's performance.
As I'm watching Kas take down one of Zenio's expansions over my shoulders I've also just finished patching up LoL. If anyone from this thread fancies a quick round with me, I wouldn't say no (I can play on any server, but I'm not sure my NA account has runes and stuff)

Try LiquidParty chat. I'm sure some people there would recognize you and want to play.

Just wondering about how successful Riot is in actually promoting LoL as an e-sport. E.g. If there's normally 500K active users, 230K watching the tournament would be quite impressive 1.3 million concurrent (only EU + NA) dont know about now, but Chinese server had 800k (peak) concurrent during the beta and in fact, China ladder have split to about 10 servers , and they are adding more, LOL... so EUW EUNe shit is not even a big deal, EU ppl should not cry... these servers been called Demacia, Tiamat, Ionia etcs... Chinese internet OP Pretty damn cool to be naming the server you log into by LoL lore. Almost has a WoW feel to it, lawlz. I hear people in SC2 get placed into Omega Baneling Ultralisk Theta or something.
Sounds a lot more fun and shit than US West, US East, Europe. zzz

EDIT: Yes, the IEM Kiev day 4 will be re-broadcasted, and VODs will be up on youtube (search for intel extreme masters) soon!

They ve lost from a team with an ad kennen as main ad carry ...
Talking bout overhyping for all current teams really .
/facepalm
|
You could conclude from that that they all suck or perhaps that AD Kennen is a real possibility?
|
AD Kennen isnt terrible.
Decent damage from W every 5 hits and an AD carry with a stun that can be AoE is pretty neat.

Try it before knocking it. Kennen is actually really hard to stop during laning phase so he farms well then has the ability to stun while fighting + aoe ult + escape. Also, his W proc scales off of ad. I tried it twice, absolutely crushed soraka graves with nunu support and beat sivir alistar with sona support. I probably would've outfarmed them with any ad carry, but I got kills and outfarmed them and was safe. He's viable. The real losing point was just losing top and getting counter jungled so hard, either of those things don't happen together in games 1 and 3, tsm probably wins.
New ways of playing are how the metagame shifts and changes. I'm 100% sure in higher elo games, lots more counter jungling will happen and more ad kennen players will appear.

They key word is that they run ad kennen as main ad carry ...
It has no merit to do that apart from trolling there x10 better champions for that job aka the real ad carries for starters. , spare me the bs they were trolling
He had 1 kill i think then 0 -0 or osmehting ismilar thus a pretty much useless champ.
they won 4vs5 vs the "best" eastern team .
Yea i do think that anyone whos called "pro" in lol is a joke compare to a sc2 pro for instance.
It just needed an relative unknown team to pawn them all semi afk with troll builds in the final

2/10 for effort.
Try and work on your language next time. And LoL pro's are pro's. They make money, and they can live off the revenue their job creates. That makes them pro. And M5 wasn't unknown. Empire was around for quite some time. And TSM didn't get owned, they lost 2-1 with some fairly close stuff happening.

Ok.

If you aren't going to put some more thoughts in your ramblings (or admit you're flat out trolling, but I don't believe that), you might as well restrain from posting.
Nunu support is as legit as can be, but despite that most people would have called it trolling not so long ago. AD carries are picked that don't have any ability scaling with AD (cf. Tristana, or Ashe short of volley), does that mean that Kennen, with his scaling W, ability to peel for himself, escape and AoE stun can't be one? He farms safely, can hold his own against certain 1v2 lanes, and allows the control that is the base of M5's playstyle.
You could as well call them trolls because they dare to use Mordekaiser in a tournament.
|
Fun fact: a friend of mine was playing Kennen always AD since he came out for a lng time. Ony after they buffed his AP-ratios he tryed a little bit of AP.
|
Kennen's range/attack speed are respectable, and early on in lane his manaless nature was allowing him to harrass Chaox/Xspecial with impunity, while Sivir was OOM farming at tower and getting poked.

Shyvana is really fucking easy to play. There might be people failing at her on free week but it's not like jungle Shyv is very tough. It's akin to the ease of jungle Warwick except Shyvana is way better than WW.
Did M5's jungle play anything other than Shyvana this tournament? Kind of funny that no one banned Shyv even though that's what was crucial to their counter-jungling strategy.

He played a 5/1/14 Lee Sin vs aAa (who had banned Shyvana), and in the finals against TSM, he played Lee Sin in the first game and Skarner in the third (with Shyvana on their top-laner, who admittedly counterjungled like a boss after pushing TRM's Irelia to her turret).

Damn there was a lot to get through in this thread! Good to read all the feedback though.
Thanks for all the quotes itäs always funny to read back what you said as most of it just comes out while filling dead air, thankfully though these games were pretty entertaining throughout and opened a lot of peoples eyes to a new meta style which in Ocelotes words "everyone will be playing like this for the next month".
Hope to be in CeBIT for the finals.
