So to start things off I thought I would give you some background information about me. I play mainly 1v1's some team games when i'm in the mood for something different. So yesterday I was like yeah let's play a 4v4 for shits and giggles. I also offraced that game as terran for fun. I ended up getting matched up with the KOT cast for that day, including Mr. Bitter and DJ Wheat. I was amazed because this is my first interaction with any pro/community players. I was so amazed. I always thought that I'd be able to keep my cool in my first interaction with pros or community figures but I went completely fan boy. Here is the link to the cast when i'm playing.
http://www.twitch.tv/onemoregametv/b/303101182 Time: 13:33- (I'm FlashFlood by the way)
So after the game started I thought these guys are probably streaming. So I alt tabed and opened up the stream just so I could hear what they were saying and if they would mention me at all. Mr. Bitter said my name wrong and then I mentioned it in chat and he freaked out which I thought was funny. We ended up winning, which was cool and after the game somebody messaged me telling me that I ruined Kings Of Tin by opening their stream and am on the same level as Deezer and CombatEX. I figured it wasn't a big deal that I opened their stream just because 1.It's a 4v4 2. I couldn't really predict their moves by just listening. (I only have 1 monitor) 3. The whole thing was for fun.
I thought it was harmless but i'm not sure. What do you think was my action uncalled for and ruining the show? Let me know and thank you for listening to my story of my favorite team game to date. The only bad part was when Mr. Bitter basically said I'm shit but whatever it happens. JMC

You can watch the VOD later...you should have just closed the stream and played a normal game. I don't really know why you said you couldn't predict their moves by listening since they constantly state what units they are making and what the plan is...
It's not a big deal in the long run and I doubt anybody on KoT gave it another thought but it's still a bit of a douche move imo.

Stream sniping is a crappy thing to do, you should have closed the stream once the game started. You even said "I'll close the stream if you say my name correctly" if I recall correctly. So you knew you were doing a crappy thing and now you want to blog about it asking if it was not cool to stream snipe?

I did close the stream after that point so I only had it up for a little bit since as was said I realized it was a cheap move.

Stream cheating is cheating. Cheating isn't cool. Don't cheat. Simple.
|
Listening to someones stream while you play is incredibly rude, I don't see how any clear thinking person would ever think that it is okay.
It would be like looking at your friends cards while you play poker, sure, you're playing low money, and drinking a couple of beers while you do, but it kinda defeats the point if your are snooping your buddies cards.
You came off as a jerk, offering to turn the stream off in exchange for your name being said correctly, you just shouldn't have the the stream on at all.
TLDR Your not -combat-ex-, but it was a dumb thing to do.

It's a fucking 4v4 on a show that showcases fun, non-competitive matches. Overreact much?

I understand everyone's anger and sensitivity towards the action of stream sniping and regardless if it was a 4v4 and I was just listening It was still wrong and I apologize. I hope you can forgive me.

@Sphen,
Totally agree.
Also, do you remember me? We had length conversations for many minutes regarding types of beer we should try, while watching a stream. I can't remember whose it was. Where have you been. I love and miss you.

Ah dude, don't sweat it.
When we do that stuff, we expect to get sniped. That's the fun of it. I was fucking with you, but I promise there were no bad feelings or ill-will.
That said, don't stream cheat. It's fucking lame. But for something like Kings of Tin, it's totally acceptable and expected.

But stream cheating is... bm. anyway if you do it for fun and poke it on them afterwards, you might enjoy it.

The man, himself, says it's cool for Kings of Tin, so I don't think you've got anything to sweat ;D Everybody else has already stated that it's rude to do it and I don't feel like beating that dead horse anymore, especially since you seem to be a fairly level-headed individual.
Anyway, it's pretty awesome that you got to play against them! Anytime the opportunity arises to play against a pro or community figure I do my best to get a spot. Maybe you'll be lucky again somewhere down the road ;D

I think it's fucking awesome that you can basically find any SC2 player on TL.

I have been getting my ass handed to me by any zerg in Diamond or above, and yes I do remember you!
On topic: I definitely think there should be no tolerance for stream cheating, etc in an actual competitive environment, don't get me wrong. But damn, it's a 4v4 Joke match. If anything it ADDS to the entertainment value.
Also, Jitsu, was it White-Ra's stream I think? Adding you as a buddy btw.

Mr. Bitter = Awesome pants.

Meh, it's obviously no big deal, and the people flaming you (assuming there were even multiple of them) are just being angry for no good reason other than being angry.
Merry christmas!
