edit: It's funny cause before this, I always believed people could carry themselves out of their elo but tbh I've won too many lanes just to have my team feed to believe that anymore.
why is LoL's rating system so flawed.....

But writing a ranking system for a game with random teams is pretty hard. Especially if you don't take anything but win/loss into account. Using score in ranking math oh the other hand has its own problems. It might encourage score-farming strategies, instead of trying to win.

Look, it's tiring, it's frustrating, it sucks. Guess what? Too bad. Get over it, and just keep playing. Or go duo with a pro friend. It took me about 400 games to get into 1700s last season. This season I got there a bit faster because I started out at 1350, but it still took about 100 games. I find playing support and jungler are the best ways to move up; support because even a retard can right click their way to victory with an AD carry when fed hard enough, so just babysit that shit, and jungle because the success of all the lanes can be directly influenced by you. If a lane is failing, then go help. Then you don't get to use the "oh boo hoo I owned my lane but the other lanes sucked" excuse.

No support in LOL can babysit a poor AD player to fed status, they have to last hit and do most of the work themselves. Plus a bad AD will have no idea how to play with a solid support and will never take advantage of it. If you are really better than everyone you play with then go jungle or solotop and play an asston of games.

You can fuck up your lane and still win because your teammates are doing good. To own your lane and yet lose a game requires that your teammates are playing worse than teammates of the player you owned in your lane. For this to repeat requires that selected teammates of the player you are against in your lane are consitently being better than your teammates - and this is not very likely. Of course you can lose a game when you totally own your lane but out of, let's say, 30 games, it's likely you will win most of them if you own your lane every time. The win/lose ranking represents the ability of the 1/5 to make the difference in a 5v5 game.

Elo hell doesn't exist.PERIOD ( or atleast the version everyone cries about ). I.e I am better than this rating and i should be highier. If u are any better you would be able to carry your games 60-80% of the time solo up to ~~1800++ , you wont be able to compensate for feeding lanes above , or well at least not most of the time. I started playing LoL for fun with some friends who were already ~lvl 20 4months before s1 end. Took me a good month ++ some days to reach level 30. By the time i got level 30 i had like 70 wins in normals ( used exp boost ) and had pretty terrible heroes. I.e a friend told me veigar is like magina in dota so i bought him first etc , than i played alot of katarina and leblanc which are all great for pub stomping. Anyway i reached level 30 and bought 3-4 champions for 450 ip so i have 14 heroes for ranked ( lol ). Solo que-ed went 9-1. After 2-3 days there was this elo system bug with the beginning of the new month. Basicly i had to go through the placement matches again , 9-1 again. Took me 180 games in total to reach 2200. Bare in mind i have barely seen 1/2 of the heroes in play and simply got carried by my dota mechanics. You need to approach the games you play with the right attitude and you will find carrying solo in LoL is just as possible until u meat semi decent players. Oh , also i played my first games since 2 months ago and i placed 10-0 and am now 1900 +. If u want to carry solo ur games after dominating ur lane here are some characters that excel very well at it. lee sin , Cass , Brand , Anni ( to a lesser extent ) , Talon ( works top and mid ) , Sion , Ryze , ezrael , graves , kassadin ( if they have semi brain and u can pick away kills all the time )

Maybe I just had some insanely weird luck that involved me getting paired with a competent AD carry every single time I picked support (which, given everyone's complaints about how every player but themselves is mentally handicapped, seems unlikely). But I know I climbed some 400 elo on solely the backs of Sona and Janna (including the pits of hell that is the 1300s). Just offering an alternate suggestion to the more common "pick ezpz carry and own" advices given.

Look, your one player two of your teammates are bad one is good and one is a feeder. How are you gonna get through this? The other team is going to get carried too by the feeders/bad players. This is all just possibility and I find this occuring at lower ELO levels. Lets setup a simulation: You have a team of 5, the standard meta-game style, AD bot + support, AP mid, solotop AD/AP and jungler. your playing mid and owning him hard. Your bot and top are doing bad, and considering the AD bot ROLE is to completely carry the game late game, what would you do? Theres nothing you can do unless you consistantly get successful ganks/or do successful ganks which is hard, sometimes the jungler is completely useless and doesn't gank at all. Thus, you have what people call ELO hell. But my two cents is that ELO hell kind of exists in my opinion, It's all luck. Honor replying with a 2.2k player from S1 though.

You gank bot over and over again. For a lot of AP carries ganking bot will get you kills easily, even without teammate assistance. The only issue I have is that if their top is also much better, at low elos they can outscale you and win (assuming everyone other than you and their solotop is terrible.) If you're a good ap carry at 1200 elo, you should be able to singlehandedly win mid, bot, and jungle. I still think solotop is easier at 1200, because even if mid/bot/jungle all lose terribly, it's still possible to carry easily just through superior farm, but I find the only way to lose 1200 AP carry games are to have their solotop pick someone who is ungankable and just get farmed + fed and just 1v5. (Or if they actually have good 1200 players who just started playing ranked, which are pretty rare.)

It's mostly down to luck. Just best to play someone who has a bigger impact on the game like mid, or jungler, and hope their team has more morons then you. The people who play ranked at low elo seriously do not give a fuck about this game, they couldn't give a shit less if they feed or play terrible. On November 12 2011 21:13 mAgixWTF wrote: can't you group up with somebody how you know is competent? You can duo-queue with someone, which is probably the best way. Never play support in solo queue either if you can help it, you can't carry a team with it.

That being said when I loaded up their streams to try to see what this "Elo hell" was like as these pro players go 9001-0-999999 and still somehow lose all I found was a ton of over extending, no warding, and stupid hero choices like AP Tristana. They did a lot of it to themselves because they didn't "tryhard." The ladder is filled of tons of great players, and dozens of pro players trying hard. You won't hit the top of the ladders fooling around no matter how good you are. Personal experience: Tons of frustrating games as with anyone else, but I managed to nab gold with a 2:1 win ratio last season. I'm currently 15:5 this season (9:4 in solo). Seems to work out pretty well for me but losing the last 4 of my "50 point games" made life really rough when going for gold last season. I went from 1400 to 1200ish but went monster mode and basically won almost ever game with jungle nocturne.

Before the rest, the ELO positions were pretty settled so if you were a 1600 player in a 1200 game, you'd carry your team because everyone on both sides other than you is around 1200 ELO. Now there are so many people trying to climb the ladder that bad players keep getting carried up to higher ELOs than they should and drag down the team OR you find yourself against a team that also has players who are climbing the ladder. I'm hoping it'll all settle down in a few months. IMO rating resents are generally a dumb idea. No idea why so many ladders use them. If rankings diverge over time(which only happens with dumb systems) one can simply add a daily decay instead of reseting every few months.

Maybe I'm wrong though, I don't play these types of games anymore because I don't agree with the way they are setup.
