Super duper old PC RTS (no base building). Before the game began you'd organize all your units into a big formation and then once it started, it was all micro... slow, slow micro. So much fun, back in the day.

Outside of Japan this is a hidden gem of a series. It's a bit repetitive but fighting drakes and dragons is pretty fun. Genre would be action/RPG. This particular game is for the Wii, but it first came out for PS2. It was also released for PSP, and in Japan it has an MMO called Monster Hunter Frontier.

Jet Force Gemeni was sooo fun to play multiplayer. Dragon Warrior: Monsters 2 made Pokemon and Dragon Quest look so bad.

never played grandia 1 but 2 and 3 are my 2 favorite turn based RPGs. grandia 2 has a better story but they both have the most fun and original battle systems i've ever seen. every other turn based rpg's fight system was boring after playing these 2 games. highly recommended. edit: typo

A driving AND adventure game. FAR more fun than that Gran Turismo crap. Lousy graphics. FABULOUS gameplay. Oh, you crazy Japanese. "Road Trip Adventure, also known as Road Trip or Choro Q HG 2, is a video game for the PlayStation 2 developed by E-game (but commonly credited to Takara). The game was released in 2002 in Japan by Takara and in North America by Conspiracy Entertainment, and 2003 in Europe and other PAL regions by Play It. The game combines elements from racing and adventure games, and is widely considered to be the best of the Choro Q series due to its large seamless world which the player can freely explore. The game takes place in a world where there are only cars." "Only Japan could create such a game as this.In the world of Road Trip Adventure you are your car. These miniaturised vehicles take on a personality of their own as you drive around and talk with other cars (just how mummy and daddy created little junior isnt explained). Trying to pigeonhole such a release is difficult because it fails to conform to any genre or category. You have your Gran Turismo foundation, which is displayed through driving licenses. Finish sufficiently high enough in a field of thirty on each of the six initial races and you will qualify for a B-license. These grow in difficulty as you rise from the C-license, to B, to A and finally the pinnacle of Super-A that allows you to participate in the Grand Prix. All this takes part in the adventure mode, but in addition you have a Quick Race option that removes the Road Trip element and a satisfying two-player mode. In Adventure your aim is to become the ultimate car, and this is achieved by travelling across the world map. The scale of the continent is admirable and this opens up new possibilities as you begin to explore, make acquaintances and collect items. Cars will challenge you to a race over a local course, and these act as a good yardstick to judge your performance. The element of exploration is forced upon you, as you are unable to access all of the circuits in order to acquire the next license. Therefore you do not only need to finish in a decent position, but discover the circuits which are to be found at various towns and outposts across the world map. Talking to other cars will provide directions or just by blindly following roads across deserts or the badly textured plains, you will eventually stumble across civilisation. Initially all this travelling is time consuming, but as you discover each settlement, these are stored and allow you to warp to a location of your choice. If your fuel runs out, you can either continue at a slow pace or warp to a location where you can refuel. An enjoyable feature of this game is that it allows you to drive anywhere, which breaks up the racing element and creates the impression of an open ended game. A similar tactic was employed in Smugglers Run, and discovering what lies over that hill is part of the fun.Road Trip Adventure takes its inspiration from RPGs by allowing you to customise your vehicle with parts, bodies and paintjobs. The connection continues as you can perform various tasks and solve problems for other cars that you meet. Eventually you will have the option to build your own town and invite friends that youve met on your travels. To reach this stage takes a great deal of work and road miles. Adding to the weight of the game are the various mini-games (all in your car) that you find through exploration these include fooball, golf, fishing and number twenty in total. Many can only played with team mates, and these can only be acquired through more exploring and talking. All this adds up to a weighty game that belies its low retail price." A little gran turismo, a little Grand Theft Auto where the protagonist is a Car. It's so much fun!!

I so miss these games, T_T; Bungie was the absolute boss before MS bought them. I was ranked #3 in the world on the leaderboards, summer of '98 for Myth II. Best e-sport achievement of my life. Miss these games like crazy. If Bungie actually made Myth IV, I'd drop SC2 like a bad habit.

Pretty much a strategy board game for the PC. Very enjoyable, imo. Not even sure how I got it, I played it first somewhere 2000-2002, even though it was released 1997. If you want to try it it's available for download at gameswin apparently, although I can't vouch for the legality of it.

You have to play Grandia 1! Grandia 2 is close though. I think you can buy it on PSN. Don't play Grandia Xtreme.

He beat me to it. Don't let the fact that I know of the game convince you, it's hidden alright, but holy crap I love this one. The game itself is a full 3D fighter, you actually run around and stuff. The levels are fully destructible (it puts Bad Company 2 to shame) environments based around cities, volcanic island resorts, Las Vegas, nuclear power plants, all the stuff of old movies. See, that's the theme, old-school movie monsters reaping chaos. Environmental objects, like rubble, cars, steel girders, etc. are all pick-up weapons that add flavor to the game, and it's one of the most fun local multiplayer of the early 2000's had to offer. Think Smash Bros, but with Godzilla and King Kong, exploding cars, buildings, EVERYTHING. Note that they don't use copyrighted names (King Kong is "Congo"). There's a neat little campaign mode that plays you through all the levels and monsters, with really cool cutscenes to boot. TL;DR= Go grab a friend and play this thing, a PS2, controllers, and this game go for about $70 total (assuming you have none of these things, the game itself would be $20 new, $10 used), so unless you have no friends, you don't have an excuse to not play this. /rave
