I just got a new PC and installed sc2.
When I am running the game it goes alt-tab on its own every minute.
Does anybody maybe know what causes this and more importantly, how to fix it?
Thanks.

But try to clean up and uninstall applications that you don't need. It sounds like something is starting in the background every minute. Normally it would be blinking or so but.. might be an unwanted application as well. Newest drivers rarely hurt as well.

Also, are either of those two parts disproportionate to the other, meaning I need one weaker or stronger to fix it? On resolutions 1366x768, and 1600x900. I'm looking to get a laptop that I can use for games as well (I have a desktop now) You will be able to run @ 1366x768 with "High" settings, at 46.4 fps Source: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Dell-XPS-17-Notebook-i7-2630QM-GT-555M.51949.0.html Control+F for "Starcraft 2", and go to the second result. That is just about the identical system that you are describing. If not, the same. Edit: I just googled GT-555M and found your answer, so I don't think this is a "Simple Question" :-P Google worked for me too, but I was also interested in knowing if either piece was too powerful for the other (I know they aren't "powerful" by any means but you get it) because I will gladly substitute/change Also, benchmarks are helpful but sometimes personal experience might be better? imo at least.

The big problem seems to be CPU-throttling which is a problem with many/most/all(?) sandy bridge mobiles. It will slow down the game for a while despite not being over-heated. This problem seems to depend on which bios the manufacturer of the notebook is using and there was at least a bios update to fix it for my notebook. So if you sort out throttling it's fine 1vs1 in high but don't expect custom games or team games to be totally smooth.

my laptop broke and I'm looking to replace it. I think my only real needs are a good processor so I don't need to go work at the uni for reasonable compile times. I don't know anything about computers anymore so all I searched on was my price range / i7-processor / ~15" display (mobility). I came up with these 4 which I can purchase without much hassle; sold in a local shop, another one provided via my university and can also order one of these two. I was hoping someone could help a total noob out with this and select the most cost-efficient one (he should last at least a couple of years), or just give me your overall opinion on the 2 'best' ones. I also don't want to buy stuff with overheating and other non-apparent problems (but I can check more customer reviews for that one I guess). If they all are junk, please let me know too, my money is still in ze bank . Also please note I will probably upgrade each non HD screen to a HD one. I'm tired of having no space to work with. Thanks!

But if you just want a laptop for school and not gaming then you could get something cheaper. edit, I mean the X5QSF.

Also good ports, 7200rpm HDD and I think the brand has a pretty good reputation, but I don't know about that model specifically. The other 3 aren't close to it in terms of hardware at least. But if you just want a laptop for school and not gaming then you could get something cheaper. edit, I mean the X5QSF. Thanks for your advice, it's for 'gaming' as well. I don't intend on playing games on high settings (IMO that's where desktops are for) but it would be awesome if I could play some of them on lowest for a couple of years to come. My last laptop was 1200€ budget but in hindsight I don't think it's wise to spend that much.

The problem maybe the video card, mine is "Mobile Intel(R) 45 Express Chipset Family (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1)" My question is: how video card works for notebooks? Can I buy a PC Video Card for my notebook? Do I need to buy Notebook Video Card only? Are the notabook video cards the same? Thanks

A friend of mine has only a single pci-e connector and 1 free 4pin molex connector but he wants to run a hd6950. So is it safe or a big no? Not really safe but it'll work. There's a reason why manufacturers usually give you adapters that are two molex for one PCIe. A PCIe connector distributes the 12v rail power across three lines while molex only does it across one. Overloading the line creates a fire hazard.
