Experiment with lower speeds as well as different buffer values (1/4, 1/2, same, double, triple of bitrate). Also, don't guess, measure! Use "Resource Monitor" to keep an eye on it. Theoretically a 720p stream shouldn't use more than 2500k, but it's all up to the codec settings and most importantly the variety in pixels between frames. In general you won't (be able to) see a difference between 2500k and 5000k.

I run an i5-2500K/GTX 560 Ti/DDR3-1333 8GB/Win7 64b and have an UL of close to 1Mbps, what's the recommended resolution and rates for me to stream at? I'd like to think I have a decent computer to stream, but possibly bottlenecked by my UL? Thanks! This has been answered a ton of times in this thread already . 1 Mbit/s limits you a lot, so i'll recommend a 480p or 500p with full quality settings. You can also do a low-quality 720p stream. Keep FPS at 25 to save a bit of bandwidth, set preset to 'medium' or lower, quality to 10 and keep audio at 96k stereo.

Thanks, and I thought with a relatively new computer, it might be able to carry a bit more load hehe. What should I put my VBV Max Bitrate and VBV Buffer to, because when I change the preset, the rates don't change? Also my highest audio bitrate option is 64000, currently defaulted to 16000. A little off topic question, is it normal for my game's FPS to drop the moment I open up XSplit (not even broadcasting)? Thanks again!

But I'm in a good mood, so I'll repeat the info: A nice CPU means you can do good quality, but without good upload it won't matter. Try these: bitrate=650 kbit/s (buffer = same). For audio change the "format" to 44.1KHz to allow higher bitrates. And yes, FPS drops are normal due to the way XSplit's capture driver works. You may want to check out the Dxtory thread which can help avoid this.

AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2ghz quad core ATI Radeon HD 4890 4gb DDR3 Ram 1600 I think [with an 8gb page file on my HD if that matters] 1tb WD HDD what kind of quality can I expect? right now I'm getting 10-40 fps with all specs on high streaming at 720p, mostly hovering in the 10-20 bracket for fps (not acceptable). I'm not running AMD Overdrive or anything, I assume that would help a little bit, also if I crossfire another 4890 in there will that help? I really appreciate any sort of help I can get here! My net is more than enough with 3mbps Upload and 50mbps download

You can post screenshots or details of these if you want. Actually, your best bet might be to change the capture driver - follow this guide: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=272764

How beneficial can overclocking be, say if I can bring it up to 3.6ghz or something? I do a 720p @30fps with 20-55 FPS (20 when armies are maxed) on a i7 920 with Dxtory. I'm not saying that is the minimum you need, but it is somewhere in that region. Find your CPU in this list and compare with mine for an idea of where you are at - note this is just for a rough reference, other things like memory/ssd/hdd, desktop resolution matters too (though CPU is by far the major factor here). To ease the task for your CPU lower your desktop resolution to the same resolution you stream in (removes the "resizing"-task). Anything else will hurt the quality of the stream, but that includes: lowering FPS to 25, setting "preset" to "super- or ultrafast" and lowering "quality" setting. Finally, for a second reference, if you look back in this thread for a user named "Thezftw" you'll see he has a 965 BE and is able to stream - though I'm unsure what settings he ended up using.

I use my headphones to play ingame sound, but use my speakers to listen to music. Is it possible to have my stream get sound from both devices? I'm unsure what you mean by two ports. However, if XSplit doesn't just do what you want, you probably need to use Virtual Audio Cable (VAC) to complete your "circuit". It's not really related to XSplit, so it's not my area of expertise either - sry .

I click the channel to being broadcasting but nothing I can see in my stage window actually broadcasts to my channel. I can't find a fix for this on the latest release.. Have I done something blindingly obvious wrong or is there a problem? My upload speed is 2.5mbps AFAIK. EDIT: Have tried streaming to Ustream and Owned, Ustream kinda works but works perfectly on Owned.tv..

EDIT: Have tried streaming to Ustream and Owned, Ustream kinda works but works perfectly on Owned.tv.. Personally I've never had any trouble getting the stream online, but this is definitely a twitch.tv issue and I'm sorry to say this, but I think you need to ask twitch.tv support what's going on. It might be something as simple as your channel isn't validated/approved. Here are some thoughts to think about: Have you ever had it working with twitch? Can you turn on broadcasting though their website (not exactly sure how that works by the way). Can you use twitch with FME? I'm also assuming XSplit works since you can stream to Ustream. Sorry I couldn't help you more than this.

From earlier releases I've heard it could be a twitch issue, might be the settings, I'll have a butchers and maybe log a ticket with Twitch/Justin.tv and see what they say. Also; Never had it work on Twitch/Justin.tv Not sure, I'll look FME? Xsplit seems to work fine. Cheers!
