I seem to recall some HotS screenshots or art with some kinda zerg units with bits and bobs of terran buildings outside of 'em. Maybe this is something like that. Blizzard explicitly said that was nothing more than the animators playing around.

This is exactly what I thought. (Maybe it has to burrow to start the "siege mode" and can still be attacked while it is burrowed?)
The front thingys look like big claws at first, but then again the hind legs look pretty much like them too, so I guess they just look so big because of the perspective and are just legs.

If you look at the head area it looks like a hydra. Looks like a new AA unit for Zerg for sure. Sad to say but it looks like no Lurker forthe swarm yet.
Gl and Hf!

I think you're right.

I can just see the patch notes already. "Bunkerlisk build time increased by 5 seconds."
Edit: the claws being big makes sense for a burrowing unit. I also don't see them as asymmetrical. I really doubt this is a melee unit.

Looks like it is a melee unit. Judging by the asymmetric claw, it either is anti-armor or serves as a shield (against splash maybe?)

does this mean ZvT will be Tanks vs Tanks like TvT?

That thing on his back looks like a cannon (or something for a range attack). Baneling mutation wich can shoot acid?
Anyway, I think it is a range unit.

Or it might actually be a new version of the lurker? Maybe it burrows and the little turrt thing just barely peeps out and goes "pew pew"?

Lurker!!! or Parasect. Either one is good

Hm, I think it may be melee for ground and ranged for air. Judging by the big claw, it is most likely going to morph from the roach. (It looks like the roaches claw)
|
It's a "NEW" unit. It won't be a mutation I think :
- Roach already have 3 upgrades that changes the unit a lot. Zerg would be too Roach-based if it was a morph from the Roach. - Baneling is morphed from a Zergling already. - It could be something from the Hydralisk, but it looks totally different, so nah.
There is a hole in the carapace, it looks like a Long-Range unit. Dustin Browder said Zerg will get a Siege unit, this is it !
|
Seems weird to add a lurkeresque unit if it supposed to be like a burrowed siege tank :/
But the huge thing and big claws seems to hint at that, unless it's some long range AA unit.
|
A siege unit that fires only when burrowed? How will it be different from the siege tank? I'm gonna guess it has a VERY slow projectile travelling speed but a sick, sick attack range. (AKA, long reach but can be dodged)
|
if they upgrade the marauder i'm gonna switch to zerg or quit the game.
|
It's a mutated turtle trying to escape from its shell!
Jk. I think it looks like a very defensive unit though, somehow. Either that, or it's meant to dig a lot, cause those front claws look too big for something that's just walking around all of the time.
|
Roaches have 6 legs, this one has 4. So it evolved to have fewer legs? Then again, all the existing unit morphs look nothing like their predecessors; but it makes sense than an earlier t1 unit can morph into something else at later stages of the game.
edit: if it's an AA unit morphed from a roach, it actually would make things a lot easier, as we'd be able to address both ground and air units with one unit (that morphs into another one lol). Also, if they're looking to remove the corruptor, then having alternative AA unit makes sense.
My personal hope is that it does nothing like that; my recommendation is that it has a second mode of travel where it turns into a ball and just rolls through bio units lol. The farther you launch it from the more momentum. Works even better downhill! That'd be a sweet unit.
|
Zerg siege tank? Not sure if want. However, if they made it light (unlike siege tank) unit, shot acid like a roach (no splash) but had range 13 AND vision of range 13, I guess it could feel different from a siege tank.
Likely morphed from roach.

Can we go back on-topic? GTFO to the Zerg thread if you want to discuss the hydraroach (calling it)
