If they do so, they can also reveal what the ring does which reduces much of the speculation about what the ring actually does and how it affects the game. I agree that there is uncertainty. That's why I dropped the whole 'chain' part. I see that it is far too risky and I assumed to much. But having one player (who can choose to do this or not and specifically when they want to do so as well) claim after passing the ring on and telling the town about the ring's effects would help. Of course, this would cause alot of scrutiny, but that would be no different from when any other person claims a role. And if you believe that I'm scum, that's fine, but you would be making an incorrect choice. In the end, it was simply an idea I had to bounce around ideas. Did our discussion harm the town? No it didn't. Misinformation and confusion is what scum thrives on. They plant little seeds in the town and let them grow based off of rocky information. Wanting people to claim puts the town in a position where they have to worry about fake claims after people passed it. WIFOM is not the town's friend. I don't need to provide reasons when he sets himself up as he's already done. Yes, you do. Reasons always need to be provided. Votes without reasons are scummy. I'd be very surprised if WBG is scum though. After watching his town play in Resurrection Mafia, I'd be hard pressed to believe his scum play is this blatant. On September 17 2011 19:23 xtfftc wrote: Also, none of the currently discussed lynch targets are viable. They are all easy ones. I'd rather go for a random lynch out of the remaining players. So...you just want to pick someone random? Random lynches are dumb. Lynches need to have a basis. And while it's true that town often gets the first lynch wrong, we won't learn much of anything from lynching a random target.

This will encourage all scum to all vote for the person who is most likely to get lynched, so scum will have a bigger chance of procuring the ring. This makes it twice as important to have at least two candidates with as many votes as each other. So you mean we should get 2 targets and let scum decide who gets the lynch? Sounds like a plan

Also the more townies vote someone, the more likely it is to get the Ring to town.

TranceStorm - This guy is not mafia. There is zero scum motivation behind his posts, and he's playing better than almost all of you right now. He made a plan that perhaps has some flaws...that does not make him mafia. Check out any of sandroba's games as town. You'll see some terrible, terrible plans there that I think he got lynched for once or twice. Bad plan =/= scum, especially when his posting has been pro-town. wherebugsgo - Jester or Village Idiot is my immediate thought. There is no way he is this bad. supersoft - Post in more detail, give better reasons for your thoughts. Posts like the following are exactly how mafia like to build up bandwagons without being remembered for it. Jackal is currently on top of my suspicion list, mostly due to being around last night while not saying anything useful at all. However, I don't think the above looks like a conversation between scum buddies. WBG's play makes very little sense regardless of his alignment, though a third party makes most sense.

What would you like me to say? The discussion regarding the ring and its mechanics is fucking useless speculation? There I said it. The only thing I saw comment worthy was Bug's request for the ring. He has since claimed to be Sauron and Gollem. But you guys want to keep speculating on the mechanics of the ring.

So comment on something else. There are enough posts by this point that you can generate some productive discussion by scumhunting and analyzing. We've got at least ten pages of constant posting, so go through that and find some scum instead of complaining when you are rightfully called out for not contributing.

Perhaps he just wants the ring.... either way though, he's shown himself to be active and contributory in his past few games. Either he picks it up or he doesn't, but we're not lynching based on him spamming about the ring. + Show Spoiler + On September 17 2011 08:56 chaoser wrote: Let's get this game started! As always, some general advice: Point 3 in particular should be on everyone's mind. Palmer really messed town up in the previous game by basically making Day 2 a huge mess with over-aggression and spam. And then basically the only reason mafia was lynched in that game was due to blue power, breaking point 2. Let's NOT bank on blues to win the game this time. Also, ##vote: Greymist asking for the ring outright? tsk tsk. My steel and iron comes for you. On September 17 2011 09:02 DoctorHelvetica wrote: Greymist straight up asking for the ring day 1 doesn't bode well for him. ##Vote Greymist I don't think our mod would hand the ring off to an evil player day 1. It's probably with a Frodo , Bilbo, or Gollum if we have any of those roles. So we know Greymist either has a protown power that is greatly amplified by the one ring, or is part of a neutral/evil faction that needs the ring for some reason. And Chaoser is right. We can't spend this whole game talking about roles. Scumhunting is #1. These are foolish reasons to be voting for a player. It's far more often townies who make posts like that than it is mafia. You both know better than that. I don't understand the hostility for Trancestorm.
