I think that he is physically equal to superman but he also has magic powers, including a thunderbolt that was able to go fast enough to hit flash This is why thing like these are fun. Since there is evidence that both your statements are true. YOU have to argue which of the contradicting evidence is the most true. For example--Batman beat superman in Dark Knight Returns with a combination of supersonic sound waves, kryptonite and old fashion ass-kicking only sparing superman by faking his own death. Does that mean Batman > Superman? Because someone else finds evidence somewhere else and so on and so forth and the fun times continue For example, at some points Hulk's strength is merely understood as "the strongest" and at some points it's very very specific like when he has to use two hands to throw a bus, or when he can't even outmatch Ultron. The game is taking all these contradictions and weave it into something interesting and "truthy"

Lots of characters are omnipresent. Flash moves somewhere? Too late, Supermanprime is already there and has always been there. As for speed alone? Silver Surfer moves as fast and possibly faster. (This is where a lot of the arguments come from) There is no one faster (at moving) than flash in the DC universe. But when you mix in multiple canons together, superheroes and villains start bumping into each other's turf of "best at ______" And that's what makes it fun.

http://superman.wikia.com/wiki/Superman_Prime excerpt "Superman Prime is the second most powerful being that has ever existed in the DC multiverse only surpassed by The Presence." Flash may be the fastest from a point of measure of A-B but then Prime can theoretically disrupt/warp reality between A-B thereby removing flashes "measureable" speed advantage. Was an exciting read about superman prime.

"While the Hulk was intended to be the physically strongest character in Marvel, Stan Lee admitted that the creation of Thor was to make a character who was "stronger than the Hulk, and smarter than Reed Richards, in a godly wisdom aspect." The subject over which titular hero is the strongest is the source of many debates between comic book fans." http://marvel.wikia.com/Robert_Bruce_Banner_(Earth-616)

Meanwhile, Base Goku was struggling with 40 tons in the Buu Saga. They didn't know about All Star Superman so they used what they knew to compare it. Going by that logic, if you also look at how they "analyzed" Hulk, he was being compared with how many tonnage they could lift (per persona type) yet there are conflicting descriptions as the writer does try to be as creative with the character as best they can. But hands down, Goku, especially the DBZ universe Goku, is no match for the heroes we are bringing up in this "supposed" common universe we are trying to setup for them.

What has happened so far (based on majority votes for the outcome of each battle)? Ro16 (A) Doctor Manhattan < Goku Doctor Manhattan states that he does not intend to fight Goku, but unfortunately it will be inevitable. Goku makes a dumb face and accepts the challenge. When the fight actually starts, Manhatten throws pseudo-philosophical bullshit at Goku, while Goku charges up his Kamehameha for a few dozen episodes. Goku vaporizes Manhattan, not that it matter much. Slightly confused, Goku turns blonde, at which point Manhattan realizes that Chi consists of tachyons (yinions and yangiongs, to be precise), his only one weakness. While Goku is preparing his second attack, Manhattan leaves to the end of the universe to gain metaphysical insight into the true nature of existence, so Goku wins by forfeit. (B) The Batman < Hulk Banner tries to get away from the fighting scene as far as possible, and Bruce Wayne sponsors him a flight to the north pole. However, in an unfortunate turn of events... *cough* *cough* *cough* ... and when the fight actually starts, Hulk wreaks havoc to the whole city. The Batman confronts him, disguised as Betty, rolls Hulk to his back and starts fondling his belly until he turns into Banner. Then, Banner concedes defeat and tries to get away from the fighting scene as far as possible, and Bruce Wayne sponsors him a flight to the north pole... rinse and repeat, until the Hulk finally gets a blow in against the Batman. (C) Flash < Mighty Thor Thor swirls Mjolnir at the speed of thought against the Flash. Barry sidesteps those slow-motion attacks ans hits Thor a couple thousand times, before he picks him up to carry him to the end of the universe. Thor lays down Mjolnir and holds on to its handle's loop, which turns him into an unmovable object for the Flash. A slightly confused Barry still manages to dodge some God Blasts and Thermo Blasts from Thor, before Thor uses the powers of Gaea to engulf Flash's shoes. The Flash vibrates himself free and outruns a few dozen thunderbolts Thor has thrown at him. When Barry starts running around Thor to create a tornado, Thor takes control of said tornado to throw the Flash into the air. Without traction, the Flash can only stare while Thor uses Mjolnir to create Anti-Force, draining the Flash's Speed Force. Then, Thor casually walks over to Barry and gently nudges his face with Mjolnir, knocking him unconscious. (D) Superman < Silver Surfer The battle of soliloquies starts. Am I humane? Too humane? Not humane enough? How much is left of the original [Norrin/Kal-El] after me becoming [Galactus' herold/the man of steel]? Must fight him. Must not endanger innocents. Must not repeat the events on [Zenn-La/Krypton]. Must... stop... thinking like a robot. Eventually, the Surfer is the first one to leave emo-stage and blasts Superman across town. Superman realizes that, surprisingly, the Power Cosmic gets past his invulnerability, so he mans up himself. After the usual cardboard speech, Supes punches the Surfer through a few dozen buildings, at which point we get the usual "Neither Hulk nor Thor hit that hard."-introspect from the Surfer. A battle of cosmic proportions ensues. Eventually, a severly battered and bruised Silver Surfer teleports Superman to the place of the cosmos where he will do the most good which, incidentally, is the village Mirik in Azerbaijan, from which Superman will not return until the end of the tournament. (E) Sentry > Doctor Strange Steven Strange steps out of a dimensional portal behind the Sentry and vaporizes him with a force blast. Then, while Sentry reassembles himself (in a couple of seconds), Doctor Strange draws a magic circle around him and banishes him into nothingness. When Sentry gets back (a few seconds later), Doctor Strange uses an illusion to show Sentry what would happen if he'd unleash all his powers, completely stunning the Sentry (for a few seconds). Then, Doctor Strange conjures half a dozen demons to fight the Sentry, and a battle of Biblical proportions proceeds (in the next few seconds). Afterwards, the Sentry batters Steven Strange into submission with his own shoes. (F) Wonder Woman < Jean Grey Wonder Woman ferociously attacks Jean Grey with a flurry of devastating blows until Jean snaps and inadvertently consumes the life force of everybody within the city (including Wonder Woman's). In the aftermath of this destruction, we see Jean Grey blankly staring at the liveless husk of her opponent; slowly she begins to realize what she has done, and eventually she suffers a complete emotional breakdown. (G) Green Lantern < Spawn Spawn tries to assassinate Green Lantern with a crossbow shooting yellow arrows made of wood. However, despite all odds, Green Lantern survives and starts to beat Spawn up real bad, all the while appealing to Spawn's good side, and trying to make him realize that he hasn't to obey Malebolgia... Spawn does not stand a chance until he taps into the powers of hell to teleport inside Green Lantern to "play alien". (H) Captain Marvel > Lobo Lobo cheats and kills Captain Marvel during the preparation week. Then Lobo gets disqualified from the tournament, and Captain Marvel is declared winner at his funeral. So, now we're at: Ro8 (I) Goku vs. Hulk (J) Mighty Thor vs. Silver Surfer (K) Sentry vs. Jean Grey (L) Spawn walkover Semifinals (M) winner I vs. winner J (N) winner K vs. winner L Finals (O) winner M vs. winner N

Also I like how people are saying anyone can be as fast or faster than Flash. Flash is whatever fastness you can go. The entire concept is embodied in him. You can't move faster than him because, that speed that you are going IS him, and he can go faster than it. Also someone brought up Captain Cold earlier: Well, yeah, lots of super heroes in older comics have fought pretty underwhelming dudes. Flash also beat superboy prime and the anti-life equation because "goes fast."

Admittedly, DC has been very inconsistent with the speedster's powers. However, in the fight between the different incarnations of the Flash and the Reverse-Flash in The Flash: Rebirth (2009, can't remeber which issue, but it's towards the end of the mini-series, so probably no. 5 or 6), a speedster without traction is shown to be a sitting duck, unable to defend himself even against an attack travelling only at the speed of sound.
