Hello!
With recent news about the Persona series, a remake of 4 on the Vita and a 3+4 fighter being developed for PS3, it's reminded me of how much I loved Persona 4 the first time I played it.
So I'll be starting a new game in P4 tonight and streaming it, and wanted to post about it here to see if there was any interest at all and start some discussion about the series. I know it might be kind of a hard thing to follow along with, considering it's long and an RPG, but it still might be fun. :p Obviously I'll have to do it across multiple days, but if there's enough of an interest then I'll definitely keep doing it.
I'll probably make another blog post about it later tonight when I start streaming (maybe 3-4+ hours from now), but I just wanted to start a discussion about Persona 3 and 4 because they are amazing games anyway, and see how many people would actually want to watch someone else play them.
Here's some links to the new games coming that were mentioned previously:
Persona 4 The Golden +more
Persona 3+4 Fighter pictures
This will be the stream link for when I stream later tonight: http://www.twitch.tv/apanthropy

Woah, I completely missed this news about the P4 remake and this new fighter; both look super interesting though, I know I'll be getting a PSV now if only for the remake . I might stop by and watch, but seeing as I have my own copy of it lying around here I still have to finish... maybe not.

Incredible game!
I actually enjoyed the characters/plot/etc of Persona 3 more, but being able to control every character in P4 just trumps it. better gameplay is king
To anyone who's never played/seen either of these Persona games, I highly recommend watching this guy stream them, because even if he's the worst player imaginable and can't kill anything, the game is still a total mindfuck that ought to be experienced at least once. Do P3 first imo~~~~~

I was thinking about doing P3, however I don't actually own the disc for it, so I'd have to find it somewhere online. :p Playing P4 is easier for me right now on emulator because I just have to pop my PS2 disc into my computer and it's good to go. I'll probably see what I can do about playing P3 though, too.

Man, I love the persona games, own all of them (even those not released in the west) and have played through p3 at least half a dozen times and p4 a bunch as well.
I would be pretty interested to see and read the reactions of people who've never played the games after/during watching a stream of it.

they're such polarizing games - people who love them really really love them, but I've known some others to be unable to get into the series. i think that's why i find them so interesting. they're certainly a departure from the norm.

I really like Persona 1 and 2/1, 2/2 is ok but Persona 3 and(probably) 4 "suck". Suck as in...they changed the series to make it appeal to kids who want to be "cool", adding emo-looking characters who run around with mp3 players(or whatever the protagonist has). I prefer darker games, made for adults, not something like 3 (and 4).

..how far did you get in P3?

Dropped the game after some time, community links etc were too annoying. And I didn't like the main character anyway. So who knows how far I got in.
Just look at the difference:

That's definitely true. I tend to find a lot of things that I like are like this unfortunately haha. I was even worried nobody would even reply to this blog at first, since it seems like people either absolutely love the series, or completely dislike it/haven't even played it before. There's really nobody I've ever heard say that it's just an okay series.

Alright guys I'm gonna start playing P4 now! Stream is up. :D

definitely not for someone who wants an action-RPG or a lot of action, better for folling a weird story :D but great game, long game too, great character dialogue and voice acting, if that's what you're into! watching--

yeah, its a pretty kick ass game. i enjoyed the story so much i played it twice more after my first playthrough, within a month. you can really tell atlus put the time and effort in.
my ONLY complaint about the game is that the dungeons can be a little repetitive and at some points in the game you just don't have very much to do.

Thanks for watching everyone, I'll stream again tomorrow starting around the same time most likely!
Also sorry about the sound quality at times, I'll try to get that worked out.

Though you probably don't want to play a remake of a remake if you're already beaten the game, P3 Portable lets you manually control your allies. I found it more of a fangirl-oriented remake though...
As for P4, I remember one year spending my entire winter break playing it into the night every single night. I actually enjoyed it more than I did P3, but that probably has to do with me having watched my sister play the vanilla P3 to about 80% of the game, then I replayed it on FES and beat it. Kinda lost some of the epicness since I knew what was going to happen up until around December of the game. Still, nobody's ever gonna replace Aegis for me.

Going to be streaming again tonight in about an hour, gonna play some HoN first on stream.
