Yes LG. You. Please save e-sports by getting the OZ team, including Jaedong.
First of all, you can certainly afford it. With a net-income of 5.8 billion USD last year, sponsoring an e-sports team is pocket change for you. But perhaps more importantly, since your major competitors within South Korea (Samsung, SK Telecom, Korea Telecom) all have teams, I think you should, as well. At a time like this, by investing in e-sports will certainly improve your corporate image and boost sales.
Wait, you are still not convinced? OK look. Just get OZ, and I will get the LG Thrill 4G from AT&T... I promise >__<

Yo, I'm sure no company is interested in BW anymore. SC2 brings money nowadays. It's about business.

Anyway I liked the idea and it makes sense. But to be fair to the guy I quoted, I think LG has actually been sponsoring some Sc2 stuff so it might not work out. D:

I used to play BW for 3 years, so I'm aware of all progaming teams as well as your mighty Jaedong. SC2 is more appropriate for money nowadays. It's more widely sponsored. And answers like "No" are retarded.

Please don't take it as bashing BW or something as I really like BW. However, we can't deny that a lot of teams are going to be disbanded. How are you going to persuade a sponsor if they hear about this disbanding thing, BW being such an old game and SC2 becoming more popular?

I know you are not BW bashing, and I'm not denying that teams got disbanded.but the fact is the sponsors pulled out for their own reasons not for the lack of faith in the game themselves.the proscene in the case of viewers is still very strong, and there are already new sponsors really interested in sponsoring these teams for example Korean Air.

There is a reason TV channels are shutting down and teams are disbanding. Sponsors probably don't want to invest in something that is clearly losing steam.

uhhhh pepsi sponsors GSL not a team,Intel and Razer are Slayers sponsor(which is the only stable Korean SC2 team) Monster sponsors EG...not even korean.

Don't worry about Jaedong. Some team will pick him up for sure.

I guess I'm officially never coming to these threads anymore. Trolls just can't be stopped. I still wonder if Blizzard really hires them to bash BW or not (in ISP's environment it's a regular case that they hire trolls to bash each other).
This is ridiculous. Ok everyone knows my opinion (BW should be supported in all possible ways, cause it's an unique cultural phenomenon (yes, BW is, and SC2 isn't and will probably not ever be)). So, I'm done with this.

People are not trolling. Nobody wants BW to die, but you can't hide from reality. It's dieing. I would like nothing more then LG to drop down millions and save BW. It's not going to happen though. Also LG is an international company and sponsoring a foreign team will get you more exposure for your dollar. It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever for them to buy Oz.

Jaedong, whether you stay in broodwar or switch to sc2, I will always be your fan. But the day you switch to sc2 is the day I squeal like a little girl.
|
As I already said, I can't believe there isn't a Korean BW fan millionaire, who would just spend a few millions to sponsor a team. Russian billionaires have their own football clubs, so I guess Korean millionaires could do the same on a smaller scale.
Or they could resort to donation. If I remember correclty, Terror made/makes a lot of money by streaming on afreeca, so I'm sure thousands of fans are willing to donate. Watching BW never cost me a cent, and my other hobbies are less interesting and way more expensive, so I wouldn't mind giving even a few hundreds dollars.

It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever for them to buy Oz. Uhh.. no. Have you been looking at event popularity in korea? Other than the showmatches like boxer&nada boxer&yellow SC2 isnt so hot. BW is way bigger in pc bangs and grassroot internet streamers(afreeca, potplayer etc), gets much more people on live events(even stx masters, a mid range event had massive crowd), has more comments & netizen attention. Hell its leading in every front. Meanwhile SC2? Largely blizz sponsored, depending on their capital injections & foreigner interest to keep GSL running.
Gotta admit dude, you are flat out wrong, in Korea BW has significantly stronger fundamentals.
