Honestly though, LG is already one of the most recognized companies on Korea so it would not benefit them in a business sense to sponsor a Korean BW team than an international SC2 team. Having said that, they aren't mutually exclusive and I hope that they or another company do pick up at least some of the remaining MBC/FOX/Oz players and make a new team, although it certainly doesn't have to be LG of course. In fact, LG hasn't show any interest in BW recently and their recent forays into esports have consisted of a couple meagre attempts to popularize their 3D displays and even these attempts have been relative failures or so it seems.

I hate to say things before they're confirmed.

But rumors (complete rumors) among some fomos users: Cho Hyun Min, who works at Korean Air/Jin Air (and helped sponsoring the Korean Air Season 1/2), is looking into merging 3 teams, don't know which company will actually sponsor it.

i dunno about that...
companies pay millions of dollars to put their name on a stadium in the US, and we already know their names.

samsung is practically royalty in korea also.

So there's no official news yet on whether there are sponsorship negotiations going on?

It's not that BW is losing steam, it's that they see Music/K-pop as more popular than ESPORTs

I could go on, but the thing is, I don't believe SC2 actually gives progamers a fair chance to explicitly show their skills.

Both LG and Samsung (삼성 or Samseong) are Korean companies so yes it makes perfect sense for LG to sponsor a Korean BW team if they choose to.

I guess I'm pretty much proof that it works too. When choosing a new monitor years ago I paid extra for Samsung just because:
- They make good products.
- They sponsor a BW team.

And I'm not even Korean!

I also have a Samsung TV and DVD player.

Honestly, if Samsung didn't have Samsung Khan I would have most likely bought some random brand Taiwanese monitor that was just as good and probably cheaper. I like to think that buying Samsung supports BW though

lg have had the opportunity in the past 6 years to buy a progaming team (plus, toona, soul, kor, go, pos were all available back then). if they didn't do it back then, there's a reason why they're not going to do it now.
