I wish people who have no idea what's going on would quit dropping in from the sc2 forum to tell us that BW is "dying". I won't make comparisons, because other people have already done that in this thread... but all of the three sponsors that are pulling out aren't doing it because they're jumping off a sinking ship. Sadly with the economy the way it is it's unlikely that three new sponsors will step in, but it's likely that we'll get one new sponsor, maybe for a combined Oz/MBC/WeMade team? A team with Jaedong, Baby, Sea, Killer, Jaehoon, and Mind should be really good... and more competition at the top for SKT/KT/CJ will be a good thing. I hope there isn't another team dissolution draft... because the best players would probably be snatched up by KT/SKT anyway.

A combined team would be great, WeMade Fox had a solid roster, but lacked more on the motivation side. If you can combine the pillars of all three teams into one with a great coaching staff the team could compete day in day out. Jaedong, Baby, Wooki, Roro, Sea, Tyson would be a nice lineup already. Hopefully a corporation or a rich person jumps on the prospect of combining the three teams.

It would be nice if the Proleague teams had more stores for international fans to buy gear from. I would have loved to buy a WeMade Fox Jacket. The revenue could help fund the team(do what football/soccer teams do and change the kit every year).

Anyways, on topic: I think it's very unlikely at all three teams simply die. A bad scenario I can see is them them being formed into one new team with all the slack being dropped. The very worst case would be them all disbanding and Jaedong being picked up by another team.

Do you still watch BW progaming, Chill? :D

I really like the idea of JD in Khan since I'm a huge fan of both Khan and JD, and it would make things really interesting in the top with KT, SKT CJ (Effort ftw) and Samsung duking it out. But more than that I like the idea of a new team forming with the players from Fox, Oz and MBC. That would be one hell of a team. Hope they can find a sponsor for that! ^__^

I don't stay up for it. If it's on when I'm up, I watch it. I only end up seeing 2-3 matches per month these days. Last games I saw were Jangbi vs Flash (aka Nada vs Foru ^^).

yeah apparently if they don't find sponsors for all three teams they are going to create a "dream team" off them and sell them as one team with like the top players,vets(so anytime and midas stay) and a couple of rookies while the rest get drafted or something.

At the minimum there will be 8 teams (same as pro-baseball in Korea) for next season's PL, so just stay positive and wait for the outcome of the sponsor negotiations.

Thing is though, this is becoming a trend. I find it very hard to stay positive at the moment. 2 teams died after last season, 3 teams dying now, and fewer new players in the draft than ever before. Plus the fact that MBC Game is dying as well. Despite being a hardcore atheist I will pray for my precious BW.

Hell its leading in every front. Meanwhile SC2? Largely blizz sponsored, depending on their capital injections & foreigner interest to keep GSL running.

Gotta admit dude, you are flat out wrong, in Korea BW has significantly stronger fundamentals.

Fewer new players in the draft but the Mystarleague and Rookie League numbers have been very good. Draft numbers are low because of the all the pessimism. And low draft numbers in turn generate even more pessimism.

Teams also need to be more efficiently managed, unlike Wemade Fox. I hope this is a wake-up call for the other teams. What would also be good is more competitions for amateurs and semi-pros. Competitions like Mystarleague and RL keep the interest alive amongst aspiring pros.

Regarding MBCGame... There are other, non-BW related factors behind their closing. Some of that is company politics.

This is a real test for BW but if it can survive this, there will be many many more years of pro-BW to come.

I am using wiki (lol) to back up what I'm going to say - but the same reason Samsung has a proteam? Samsung is a huge international company as well, and they've got a team.

If we do get a merger of the three disbanding teams, I'm sure they'll get a sponsor with their solid roster. There's potential for a lot of star power, excluding Jaedong since he's already the driving force. And a team like that could easily contend for the championship every season. Also, OGN will be the single channel airing these games, so we should get quality matches every week.

In turn, this increased competition among Proleague will surely stimulate excitement. Hopefully it would bring in more and more aspiring rookies that could one day become the next Flash, Bisu, Jaedong, etc.

Maybe there might never be any more expansions to the 8 teams, but with a revival of rookies, the teams could last a lot longer and provide more competition in the long run so that there wouldn't be any more disbandings in the future.

First and foremost, LG is not an international company, but a Korean one. And I doubt that the LG CEO's know about the foreign SC2 scene or are interested in it. BW is a visible industry in Korea.

Oh, and what that guy above me with the beer icon said.

As for OZ/MBC/Fox - for me it is enough, if kespa will create a dream team with best players of OZ/MBC/Fox, for example jae, killer, hiya, anytime, baby, mind, shine, jaehoon, sea.

As you know, CJ team is not bad, and now it contains from players of hite, estro and old CJ.

P.S. Yes - I am OZ fan, and 70% of my BW movie is about OZ.

P.S.2. Maybe we need to show my "bw forever" movie to kespa and LG, and they will close all BW proscene forever? Just kidding

No matter what happens to OZ I'm sure he will get multiple offers and there won't be any problem. Top players like him will obviously wait until the new game has been figured out a bit more so they can actually use their incredible decision making(esp in JD's case). In any case OZ or not, Jaedong hwaiting!

to sc2 forum people: BW is still dominating Korea, and with a reason. It's strategy level is high above what we currently have in sc2. It is the solid concept our new game is built upon and the peak we hope to reach some day.
to bw forum people: I am still watching BW every day and love the game that I grew up with, but I cannot understand the recent tone of the bw forum. What is up with the 'hipster nerd' syndrome? You sound like these old people who don't accept the use of computers, smartphones and ..all new technology. The game is still named StarCraft , despite units and mechanics the basics of economy are the same and that drives strategy.
