You took unlocked cpu, z87 board and hyper 212? doing CPU OC?
Here's GPU's http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/783?vs=768
That case has only one fan with it, a 120mm front, and one slot for a 92mm at back, the one i linked was bigger on purpose and with 2x 120mm front, 1x120mm back and a 140mm top
OC build vs non-oc build is pretty different and more expensive, which do you want? With z87+CPU OC build and a good 7970, i wouldn't take the same PSU, RAM, Mobo, CPU, case or cooler, so it's pretty big deal
Build with Misterfred's stuff, dropping in that case i chose (can maybe get a bit cheaper, good airflow and roomy case) and the GPU, comes to £627. The changes i would make for a solid CPU OC build would take it to around the 800 range
If you want CPU OC it's workable i guess, but you're either paying a lot more or trading GPU for CPU, a direct cu ii 7970 for £240 is a great deal too. I mean, do you know what you're doing with CPU OC etc, or did you copy some stuff there from a template?

I recently bought a SSD. However, unexpectedly, I gave away my GPU (old 5770) to a friend who needed it more than me (since I only play League of Legends at the moment). Surprisingly, my old ATI 1650 can run LoL... (really poorly though lol)
So I have the following question : Should I format and install the SSD knowing that the old ATI 1650 will eventually be changed? Or should I hold until I buy a new GPU before putting in the SSD?

Pretty sure you can just uninstall whatever graphics drivers when you put new card in, and install the drivers for that, ssd not really being a factor. Check performance on your integrated graphics if you have any, it might be better

Unfortunately, the board doesn't support integrated! (I have the 2500k sandy bridge which has integrated I believe)
I thought SSD have limited read/write?

Thanks!
Do you have a link on how to make it happen? (how to maximize the performance of the SSD)

I think Windows does most of it for you. You just need to verify that AHCI is on, TRIM is on, defrag is off, and drive indexing is off. If you want more space than disable hibernate, disable system restore, reduce pagefile, and move the temp folder.

Would you put the upgrades for Windows or disable update?

It's important to at least get service pack 1 for w7

What games do you intend to play on this computer? What settings? Starcraft 2, Ultra settings if possible
What do you intend to use the computer for besides gaming? Streaming. The goal is to Stream SC2 on Ultra
Do you intend to overclock? Willing
Do you intend to do SLI / Crossfire? Don't know what this means.
Do you need an operating system? no
Do you need a monitor or any other peripherals and is this part of your budget? Need a monitor recommendation to be bought at a much later date
If you have any requirements or brand preferences, please specify. no
What country will you be buying your parts in? Canada
If you have any retailer preferences, please specify. no
Was hoping to get opinions on this build for the cost http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Nexodus/saved/2oVy

You chose 3770, which is last gen CPU and not unlocked (so can't overclock) and mobo to go with it (last gen socket)
RAM/SSD, depends on market, you might be able to get better price/value though in canada, i'm not sure.
Way overkill GPU for sc2, and way too high wattage PSU for your system (that doesn't mean it's good, it's "only" 80+ bronze and i've never heard of xion before)
The CPU cooler would be questionable at $70, but that's after a $25 rebate. All in all it's probably not a great choice. The fans will run louder than an air heatsink and there's pump noise etc too, closed loop coolers are rarely a good option at the pricepoint they are at. The case you selected doesn't have anywhere for you to use the radiator on an intake, which is an important part of their value too, they have better performance when sucking room temperature air through them instead of case temperature
What upload speed do you have and goals for streaming and what other games are you building for?

I'm quite bad at building PC's, which is why I ended up here. 2mb up at the moment, and I really only focus on SC2 At the moment, with the occasional DOTA2 streams. Just sick of having everything on medium-low while streaming or else I get no good frame rate

You probably want an i5 4670k +OC and something like a 650ti/660/660ti/760

That's interesting, you aren't recommending any of the AMD cards?
Edit: Besides price, what's the biggest difference between quad core i5 @ 3.4 Ghz and quad core i7 @ 3.4 Ghz ? Hyperthreading? Or something?

Some people have been having trouble with sc2 recently specifically with the high end red team cards not performing as they should, though there's some insane deals on 7970's in the UK (direct cu ii's for £239 and £233..), since you didn't mention other demanding games you might prefer a cheaper card than a flagship, as they don't even help with sc2
a midrange nvidia card won't hold you back in sc2, my 770 flies to 300fps max settings some maps and i'm never limited by it, either im GPU limited at like 150++fps or my CPU is holding back performance with higher unit counts. I've talked to a few people with amd flagships though and played games with, watched shared replay on same camera with, synced settings etc who have half my framerate or less on the same settings with a card that otherwise benches almost the same, and are GPU limited, though even then it's usually not a big deal, but i don't have in depth numbers for how that would affect performance while streaming

Only hyperthreading that's really relevant. That's why i asked for your upload rate. It's not appropriate to get hyperthreading for running an sc2 stream with 2mbit up, can't think of any reason for it. i5 to i7 isn't that big a gap - 20% on multithreaded. If you were trying to stream a game that was CPU heavy across many cores (like Crysis 3 or maybe, more realistically, battlefield 3/4) and if you had a lot of upload (like 5mbit and wanted a high high end stream) then you might want to push stream framerate at 1920x1080 with i7, but there's really no reason to be going over the 1080p30/720p60 standard which is easily achieveable with room to spare on oc'd i5 when you have only 2mbit up. Besides, twitch doesn't work for half of the viewers anyway, that's just advice assuming they magically fix their servers after god knows how long of anything but 240p during events and 480p during no events being watchable for a ton of europeans, or if some other stream service pops up
Edit: Oops, mixed up people, i'l still leave info up Thought you was the person i was writing to before so maybe adressed people a little weirdly there.

Haha you jumped in.
Besides that, amd's showcasing new GPU lineup in a week too

I put together a build based on the "high-end-gamer" sample build.
i5-4670k - 200 € Thermalright True Spirit 140 BW - 37 € Gigabyte Z87-D3HP Intel Z87 - 127 € 8GB G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3-2133 - 68 € 2048MB Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 - 221 €
LG Electronics GH24NSB0 DVD-RW - 20 € 250GB Samsung 840 Evo Series 2.5" - 144 € 1000GB WD Blue WD10EZEX 64MB 3.5" - 56 €
Fractal Define R4 Midi Tower - 85 € 450 Watt Enermax Triathlor Non-Modular - 61 €
Total 1019 € (from mindfactory.de)
Is there something I'm missing here? it's nearly $=€ just normal euro prices or something wrong. Any other comments on the build also welcome before I order. Thanks.
I also checked alternate.de and hardwareversand.de, they seemed more expensive.
|
That's correct with the 1:1 $ to €. There's no taxes in the US prices and most things are a little bit cheaper.
If you buy after midnight, you'll get free shipping at mindfactory.de. Because of shipping, it's probably best to buy everything from one shop, so you don't have to search around and compare.
What about the ASRock Z87 Extreme4 motherboard? Its price seems pretty good. I'd probably choose that one, but would try and research about problems with it in forums.
