My card's not locked at 1293mhz, but there's no easy way to do that. GPU load is so tiny, i'd like to try it just locked at 1293 but seems difficult. I still got the stutters when the game was maxed early game, so card didn't leave 1293/7.6g

Also, fill out the OP questionnaire. Likely prices will be too high because it has an i7-3930K / X79, which is worse than much cheaper gear for gaming. For strict gaming purposes or other general tasks, I would say no more than $800, which is probably a lot less than the person wants. It's worth more if you're doing other things with the machine.

Thanks for the reply. Basically I need a gaming computer and this caught my eye. If you say 800 is a fair price for it ok, I offered him 1100, he said he'll do 1200.

edit: it's not that $800 is a fair price for that hardware. It's that such parts aren't worth more than around that for gaming. It's a problem of a bad match for you. e.g. you need a heavy-duty hammer and you're trying to haggle down somebody's wrecking ball to unreasonable levels ($650 would be good) because you're the wrong kind of buyer for a wrecking ball and really just need a hammer Uh, you get what I mean. Hopefully.

Most of the parts are total wastes of money for gaming (which inflates the price), and you'd be stuck with a hot and loud older-gen graphics card. thank you very much for your honest opinion, I wasn't ready to jump the gun on the 1200. I'll take your word for it and stay away.

Good or not? Computer specs are : 2500k i5 8gb ram season 420W at the same price range, there is ASUS GeForce GTX 660 OC DirectCU 1020MHZ 2GB 6.0GHZ GDDR5 2xDVI HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E Video Card 189$ (169$ after 20 rebate) I'm looking for the best upgrade for below 200$. Can go higher if needed... but right now, I'm only playing League of Legends, and my x1650 can run it (granted very poorly, but still playable). Of course, I can hold before purchasing and wait for new games

The HD 7870 is a better value because performance is pretty similar, but personally I'd rather have the GTX 660 because many Asus 600 series DirectCU cards, including that one, were supposed to be very quiet.

Sometimes I might recommend a 7950 to someone asking for the best video card at about $200. But in this case I just want to emphasize the TREMENDOUS level of overkill both cards are for playing LoL. If you don't anticipate a strong desire to play on max settings in other games, you could also consider cheaper options, like a 7790 or something like that.

I had to laugh at this: Coolermaster Hyper 212+ EVO Heatsink equipped with two Corsair SP 120 High Performance 2350 RPM Fans in Push/Pull. Amazing 62.74 CFM at max. This setup beats most watercooled setups under H100. True, and he makes it sound good, but of course it beats them. Sub-240mm rad clc's are pretty trash and he's running a pair of sp120 high performance's. It's not like it's good cooling, he's still basing it on a heatsink that you can get for 20 dollars

Ty both of you Money is a little bit of an issue So if performance wise it's equal, I'm tempted to go for the cheaper. I sometimes play Counterstrike GO, BF3 or TF2, but most of the times, I'm only play LoL and other Blizzard's games (which are not known for being too demanding)

Not convinced on Asus Gryphon, especially in an ATX case, but this is no big deal. I mean, there's Gigabyte Z87X-D3H and Asus Z87-A for $135. 2. 16 GB of RAM, why? 3. $125 for Samsung 840 EVO seems a bit much, but not incredibly so. 4. HAF 922 is pretty outdated and not too convincing for $80, but if you like it, there's no problem. I didn't really even check around, but Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 is $65 on newegg, for example. 5. Cooler Master probably isn't bad, but it's kind of skimping in a build that doesn't seem to be skimping elsewhere. In any rate, it's not good enough for Cooler Master to want to send to reviewers, so it's a question mark. Also, 600W doesn't make too much sense. I mean, you could run two GTX 660 Ti off of that, but I don't think you'd want to...? If it's only for the one, why that much? 6. DVD burners should be costing about that much without any rebate unless you're looking in the wrong places. Like maybe PCPartPicker sucks? 7. Please don't tell me you're getting that CPU and motherboard without intention of overclocking the thing? If not, what heatsink are you using?

8 Gb of RAM is really sufficient for gaming/streaming. You should really fill out that form in the OP because it gives people something to work with. If 600W is overkill for that build then I think you're good with Corsair CX500 or something. Check overclock.net they have a list of PSU you should be getting.

So i might be getting a nvidia 460 cheap/free. Plan is to use this card for now (prob satisfies me anyways) and buy a nicer card in future? As stated before, my primary title to play is dota and possibly dual screens (maybe some higher gfx games in the future). What would be the max value paid for this..? 1) Let's assume I take out the gpu. With the extra ~200 bucks i have, what ssd would you recommend? (should I even get it now or wait ?) 2) I wish to invest more into the mobo for better future compataibility. Lets put it in the 100-200 range (since i'll prob buy it on the mega sale days) 3) What order of components should i spend more money on if i happen to get more cash 4) I really want a nicer case so let's upgrade that. I especially like the features iv seen where u can plug the sound/mic plug with abuncha usb's all at the front of case. What are other nice features of investing more in a case (function not aesthetics)
