Biased answer: yes. Objectively: still yes.

Hopefully it recovers... I didn't read any guides about repairing it beforehand, so I plugged it into my computer. The capslock key and the number lock key both light for a second, before going away. The keyboard is unresponsive. I placed it in a bag of cat litter about 3 hours later. I'll take it out in the morning and see if it still works :s

I will send it back today, leaving with the thought that you really have to believe in this mechanical-keyboard-thing to improve with it.

You won't get used to a mech keabord in a matter of a couple of hours. Especially not when it has MX Black switches, the stiffest ones out there, most people dislike them for that matter. Also, that keyboard is just a rebranded Cherry, which is nowadays probably the cheapest and worst mech keyboard in terms of quality. You can see it on a shelf in every MediaMarkt and Saturn shop. Which leads me to believe that you just do not know a lot about keyboards and switches, else you probably would not have bought one with black switches as your first, and that one in particular. In the future, do your research and take your time to decide on matters of tech. Also, jumping to conclusions based on very little experience is not "a very useful talent toi have".

I'll take it out in the morning and see if it still works :s That's the most stupid thing you could have done unfortunately. Water itself won't damage your keyboard over a short period of time (but corrosion will if you work in a constantly moist place, don't get me wrong). What will destroy your keyboard however is the short caused by the liquid you spilled on the keyboard. So the correct reaction is to plug it out immediately and to let it dry in an open place for as long as it takes (you can remove keycaps and other accessories to speed up the process). You shouldn't plug it back in if you're not 100% sure your keyboard is perfectly dry. Now your board is most prolly dead, but I wouldn't take the risk of plugging it back in after such a short period of time anyway. Just leave it for 2-3days and hope.

Hey, no need to be so aggressive man. You make good points, but if he doesn't like it then he doesn't like it, many people only like scissor switch boards. So keep giving advice but stay cool about it, no need to pay people out.

I take your point but in fact I read dozens of reviews and asket in this thread for aid. The k1 was one of a very few keyboards with reduced width that had almost no negative voices on it. So what would be your advice for a gamer willing to spend money for a good keyboard - but not for nice skins or led-illumination - who is used to work and game with flat keys?

You should do research about scissor switch keyboards. That's the technology used in good laptop keyboards. There should be some kind of keyboard enthusiast scene about those, and some kind of reviews and discussion. I think I've heard only good things about the Cherry G86. Those are flat rubber domes, but are reportedly reliable regarding the feel of the keys. G86 should be what's inside the Cherry "CyMotion Expert" keyboards, but I don't know where else.

I'd like to get a cherry mx brown board with PBT keycaps and so far I've come up with the option of getting a WASD barebones with PBT keycaps separately. Any other suggestions?

So what would be your advice for a gamer willing to spend money for a good keyboard - but not for nice skins or led-illumination - who is used to work and game with flat keys? Pretty much what Ropid posted 4 posts above. Full-mechanical keyboards with flat keys are near non-existent. Take a look at the Cherry G84 line with Cherry ML switches. Cherry G84-5200 (otherwise known as XS Complete) is the only one with all the keys and a numpad: http://www.amazon.de/Cherry-Complete-Keyboard-Tastatur-Hellgrau/dp/B001NZWI2E/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1364385738&sr=8-7 . If you don't care about the numpad, Cherry G84-4100 is basically the same keyboard, albeit tenkeyless: http://www.amazon.de/Cherry-G84-4100LCMDE-2-Tastatur-USB-schwarz/dp/B000XGXV0C/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1364385839&sr=1-1. You could also take a look at the Tt esports Knucker, but it's basically a rubberdome keyboard with a plunger switch on top of every rubber contact. Looks badass though ![]()
