I don't like it as much personally but that's not to say it's not good. It feels more solid in a way.
without the tactile feedback, the typing experience becomes very different. I think if you aren't so comfortable with touch typing, it can be quite easy to mistype because unlike blues for example, it doesn't have that 'slowly increasing the force as you push down the key until it clicks' type of feeling to it. It just goes all the way bottom. But once you are used to typing with red switch, it feels very nice. It feels 'smooth' since the 'click' is no longer there.

I've tried the browns and the blues recently. I was using black switches for 2 years and bought the leopold tenkeyless with red switches a few months ago. If you're using browns, I really think the switch to reds will be easy, and you will probably end up liking them better after some use.

Just bought a Filco Majestouch 2 (not a TKL, a full 104 key keyboard because I use the numpad a lot for school) with red switches. As you may (or probably not) recall, I was looking at the CM Storm Quickfire TK with reds but after looking at that and a bunch of others I felt that I would always regret not getting the Filco (I felt that regret after I got my Rosewill since it had the weird issue a bunch of the first batch RK9000s had where if you pressed certain combinations of 2 keys it would output 3 letters. The most noticeable combination was N+S where it would output 'njs', so when I typed "instead", I would sometimes get "injstead". I didn't want to deal with RMAing it so I just accepted it for what it was.). I decided I might as well get the best and have no regrets so I am quite excited to get it. I paid for NCIX's cheap express shipping deal so I get it on Wednesday, which is perfect because I am out of the house Christmas shopping tomorrow afternoon and am writing a final exam on Thursday. I don't feel too bad about the fairly exorbitant cost because my last paycheck was much larger than normal due to working on a holiday and making more than double what I normally make in a day. Plus I saved up almost all my money during the summer and have a ton left over after paying for school so I might as well spend it on something I will actually use rather than waste it on booze like most of my friends do.
I was going to get a keyboard with reds anyway since I was getting subtle hints from my dad that my current keyboard is way too loud hahaha (He'd say things like "Oh you were playing video games before?" and things like that and saying he could hear me clacking away). I felt kinda bad about being so noisy with my blue switches. He never said anything when I used to use my 6GV2 so it must be the blue switches.
I think I am going to give my old 6GV2 to my buddy at work. He currently uses a laptop keyboard to play games (I told him he was nuts) but he doesn't have the money to get a good one so I'll give him mine since I'm not going to ever use it anymore now that I have 2 better ones (My Rosewill will now be my dedicated keyboard for my Mac setup. I do all my programming on my Mac laptop so this will save me having to unhook my Filco from my desktop everytime I have homework). Now I just have to get another G1 so I can have my favourite mouse on each computer. It's not like that would break the bank since those cost 1/6th the price of my new keyboard.

So i have been using blackwidow tournament edit for couple of weeks now. Gotta say it works nicely, only thing is its kinda load when bottoming out, thinking of putting orings or whatever they are called on keycaps. Also is there some type of rubberized feel keycaps?

Been using my new Filco Majestouch 2 (blue switches) and I gotta say for my first Mechanical Keyboard, I'm really loving it! I got used to the typing fairly quickly, and its pretty awesome! I got a great deal on NCIX a few weeks back, or else I probably wouldn't have invest that kind of money, but I'm very happy I did! It's a great keyboard! Really feels nice to type and to game on.

O-Rings definitely help dampen the sound on blue switches. Although you lose a bit of the true feeling of blue switches unfortunately. At least in my opinion you do.
I believe the Corsair K60s have some rubber keycaps that you can harvest from. Don't quote me on that though.

If so, yeah that was a really good price. If it would have been browns or reds I would have snagged it because I already have a keyboard with blue switches.
I got my Filco from NCIX too, though I guess that is our only choice in Canada other than paying insane shipping and customs fees from other countries. I'm glad NCIX got Filcos because I have wanted one for a long time and it seemed impossible to get one shipped here without paying over $200.

Yup, that's the one! And yeah, i would have preferred a brown, but for my first Mech KB I didn't mind blues, it was a great opportunity, so I went for it.

Anyone knows/have experience with using WASD in an EU country?

Hey all, I've read through this thread and I have a question that doesn't seem to have been asked recently.
I recently purchased a red switch 6GV2, and it's a huge step up from my old Logitech G15. One thing I don't like about the red switch is that it feels "mushy". I press down on the key, it slides to the bottom, and just stops. What I miss from my membrane keyboard is a "snappy" feeling, which I think was heavier actuation plus shorter travel distance.
Naturally this would suggest that black switches would be a better fit for me. But I'm also curious about brown switches. Do they feel any "snappier" than reds or blacks? Is this a quality anyone else has noticed about red switches?
I should also note that I'm a heavy typist. I will bottom out every keystroke whether it's regular typing or playing SC2. Is there any benefit to me getting brown switches, in that case?
Thanks for your advice!

The black switch is the same as the red, just requires more force to push. The black switches could be interesting to try, perhaps you would be able to type without always hitting bottom like with the red switches.
For a snappy feeling, that could mean you should look into brown or blue switches. Their downwards movement basically has two parts, you'll feel some kind of resistance very shortly after starting to push on the keys, and it'll give way suddenly and fall down a little bit before the resistance picks up again. That will be the point at which the switch activates, which is completely hidden in red and black switches. The brown switch feels a bit mushy, the blue perhaps cleaner (I can't describe it better). The blue has a click sound at the point where it activates. Both feel a bit more flimsy compared to red or black in my opinion.
As you hammer the keys anyways, always bottoming out, I would guess the different switches would not make any difference for you, and would be a waste of money. Spamming keys, I personally don't really notice anything about the tactility of brown and blue switches. I bet the red or black switches will feel best with their completely clean movement, and the other switches as if the insides of a red switch being dirty.

Problem for you is travel distance. You bottom out, and therefore won't get any "snappy" feeling.
Will happen on a black switch as well (does on my black 6gv2 )

Send WASD an email, they are pretty good at responding.

I just got myself a qpad mk-50 with cherry red switches. Got it over the 6gv2-red which is the same price around here because it has the left winows key (which I use) and has a completely standard layout - the german layout on the 6gv2 would drive me nuts. I mainly wanted to get a keyboard with really light keys - not so much for starcraft, just for typing/playing in general. I didn't take any getting used to, but I'm pretty accurate with a keyboard anyway. If you're someone who does a lot of fumbles I could imagine that the red switches could make things worse. So a fair word of warning there, but otherwise I absolutely love them.
Made a much bigger difference playing Chivalry than playing starcraft fwiw. Holding down 'w' for a long period of time used to become painful.

Caps lock is the gamer's elephant in the room. Its prime real estate but no one uses it.

Got my Filco with reds today. It is better than I imagined. Reds are so perfect for me since I am a very light when it comes to typing. It is taking a bit to get used to the new actuation point compared to blues. I keep typing and thinking things shouldn't register when they are. I'm also used to the safety net of blues where it takes a lot more for presses to register so I am making a lot of typos hitting nearby keys, but I am already getting used to that. However, my typing does seem to be a bit faster already since I can type super light with it still registering.
The quality of the keyboard itself is quite impressive. No squeaky keys, which was a big issue on my old Rosewill (the spacebar drove me nuts!). It feels quite sturdy. I like that it just has a regular cord rather than one of those braided things because those always get so frayed after a while. The red LEDs are nice because they don't blind me to look into (the blue LEDs in my Rosewill were super duper bright and it could get annoying). Overall I am very happy with this purchase and am glad I went with the Filco.
Edit: I don't know why, but for some reason I am much better at touch typing on this keyboard, almost as fast as on my laptop. It is strange.
