Ermm I'd rather not start up the GH drama. What's done is done.
You've never tried blue switches before sly?

Not over an extended period. Just test switches.

Actually, I've got a question for you guys. Now I've been using mech keyboards for several years now and I'll never turn away from them again, but how do I convince friends of mine how much of a difference it makes compared to regular keyboards. Since there's really nowhere they can go and actually test a mechanical keyboard out themselves it's pretty hard to really get across just exactly how much the quality experience is worth it to me, and should be to them.

How about inviting them to your home? They could check your keyboard out and you all play together? Gaming is more fun when done in a group anyway! ;-)

Yeah I've done so with the friends I have actually living in the same country. Thing is, the current 2 I have in mind live in the UK which doesn't lend itself to quickly bringing a keyboard over for trial. Next time we meet up though, it's certainly on my list of things to show them

Any opinions on the Cooler Master Quickfire TK? I'm looking at the model with red switches. The local computer store just got them in and I've been looking into getting a board with red switches so this seems like a good chance. I like that it is the size of a TKL but still has the number pad as I use that a ton in my schoolwork. I have no experience with Cooler Master keyboards. I currently have a Rosewill RK-9000 (from before they got to be not as good) with blue switches and I would like to try something quieter, though I am still happy with it (I don't think my dad is though as it sounds like a machine gun when I am playing SC2 and with the location I moved my desk you can hear it outside my room now). I also have a 6GV2 but I don't like how heavy the black switches are. I do think reds would be ideal for me. I'm torn between reds and browns (as I do like the thump, but that isn't dealbreaking). I should have got a Das with browns when NCIX had them on sale and tried that.
Here's the site link to the TK:
http://www.cmstorm.com/en/products/keyboards/quickfiretk/
Thanks in advance!
Edit: And I don't want the 6GV2 with reds, unless they changed the key layout so M is in the right spot. That drove me nuts on my old 6GV2 and now that I am used to M being one spot over again I don't want to adjust back. Yes I use classic hotkeys for Terran.

I'm also looking at buying it b/c I want a shorter keyboard with red switches. Also, it's more conservatively styled than its predecessor (a plus for me).

Hmmm, I've tried the 6gv2 before my sister bought me the CM Storm QFR and the position of the M key is at the same spot as all other keyboards. The only difference in the layout is the big Enter key, the smaller right Shift key and the key that is usually up from the Enter key is being replaced at the left side of the small Shift key.

Yeah, that was what bugged me. It shifted things over a bit and it drove me nuts.

I had heard rumblings about CM keyboards not being the best quality so I was wondering. Yeah I don't really like flashy peripherals either and that is what caught my eye about this keyboard. So many of the mechanical keyboards now are too crazy looking for me. This one just has backlighting that can be basically turned off. I might go check it out tomorrow afternoon after my midterm. The price is not too bad locally and I can try it before I buy which is great.

Its all a matter of preference. Find the best deal for u and then choose a switch. Besides the weight, browns have a distinctly different bump than blues or clears or greens. Its not as bouncy; kind of like a breakaway feel vs The blues that feel like your actually hitting a spring board.

I'm having such a hard time deciding between my mx brown filco majestouch and my mx blue coolermaster quickfire tenkeyless.
I love my filco but these blues are addicting to type on. I require more time to make the decision. I would certainly feel bad if the coolermaster ends up my main since i got it for $60 and the filco was like $120 lol. The keycaps and overall structure feels a bit better on the filco but the blue switches and tenkeyless layout is very appealing.
They are both costar boards as far as I know so it's quite crazy how CM can charge so little compared to the bigger costar brands like leopold or filco.

I got the Quick fire for 45 dollars on black friday, and I have to say I love it. That blue switch clicking on top of a steel plate sounds so crisp and nice.

Are the red switches with O-rings really as silent as some ppl say (as quiet as membrane keys)?

yep, it sounds amazing and great feel too. I love how they listened to their customers too and all the newer manufactured models don't have huge logos everywhere. It has just one logo on the rear panel (can't see at all since it's on the back) and the front is just clean gun metal grey.
I don't care for the key font much but that's pretty nitpicky. I may end up transfering my filco keys to the coolermaster if I stick with the blues instead of browns.
The keyboard is an INSANE value for $60 (or in your case $45, downright criminal savings) I couldn't be more happy with it.

Hey fellow mates of teamliquid, I need your help for buying a new tenkeyless keyboard! I don't really know what and where to buy, the only way I see at the moment is a Filco Majestouch 2 Cherry Browns Tenkeyless, but they are so damn expensive. Maybe u guys know something better for me? The keyboard must have cherry brown switches, it must be tenkeyless, my budget is ~170€ and it's not a must, but I would prefer if the keyboard has some sort of back lightning (LED's). I currently own a Filco Majestouch 2 with Cherry Brown Switches, and I'm really satisfied with this, but for ergonomical reasons, I'd like to have a tenkeyless-version of a mechanical keyboard.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: I nearly forgot that I need a German Layout. The Ducky Keyboards seem really good to me, but I think there is no german layout for these. I also like the Cooler Master Storm Quickfire Rapid Mechanical Keyboard (Brown Cherry MX), but again, I guess no german Layout. Does anyone know how I could buy a keyboard with an american Layout and "fix" it afterwards with switching keys or some stuff...I seriously don't know.
Also, I posted this to reddit.com/r/mechanicalkeyboards too, to get some more opinions on the topic.

I've got a cm storm quickfire tk (brown switch). the build quality is extremely high. it is definitely miles better than a blackwidow. i also feel it is also much better than most of the filco's out there as well. stop right now and dont bother with the das/ducky/filcos etc.
cmstorm quickfire tk pros- quality of keycaps- not all abs keycaps are the same. it is grip coated which imo makes it better than ALL abs keycaps, and visually its the best looking keycap. trust me its looks so much better. keycap printing, - it is not pad printed unlike most mechanical keyboards. i believe it laser etched.(this is what you also look for in a keyboard). -it is a downsized kb, like a tenkeyless size, but still has numpad and arrow keys. the arrow keys and numpad is integrated together so its more ergonomically small. -full backlight kb- amazing, see for yourself.

Looks pretty sick, I don't understand why someone would want to switch the caps lock and control keys around though.
