Definitely a good choice. I also have a Cherry G80-3000, but I bought this in Taiwan and unfortunately it's really pricey here for some reason. If you can get it for a cheap price then go for it, it's a really good keyboard.

Sometimes when I hold down some keys like k, z or h, it will come out like zzzzzzz2312asd'ad. How do I fix this or is there a problem with my keyboard?

Hey TL.net, I've been thinking about buying a mechanical keyboard for a while now but I'm not sure wich one to get. From what I've read, the brown switches will be best for my purpose. But until now I was only looking at a Das Keyboard because I couldn't find a site that shipped to the EU (w/o rediculous shipping costs). Now that I learned about qtan5370's ebay shop (a lot cheaper), I seriously dont know what keyboard to buy. The options I have: - Das Keyboard Model S Professional(max price) - HPE 87 Mechanical Gaming keyboard - Key Cool 87 Mechanical Gaming keyboard - Ducky DK-9008G2 PRO Mechanical Gaming
Some questions I have: - Are the HPE & Keycool less expensive because they don't have a numpad? - Any thoughts on the Das vs the Ducky?
If you have any furthur advice / suggestions, please tell me.

Does anyone know why Filco keyboards cost more? I've been doing some light research and can't seem to figure out where that extra money goes in to buying a Filco board. From what I've gathered the Leopold are pretty much exactly the same and cost less.

Just got my new Das Model S Ultimate but I was wondering if anyone knows how to lube a keyboard. I don't wanna just toss my old one away. I bought some super lube but does anyone know a good method to lube the switches?
|
@Regina - The CM storm keyboard is really good quality; If you can get past the somewhat cheesy decals (imo) its a great keyboard for a fairly low price.
@Chrono - I have had a leopold and 2 filcos and theyre pretty similar quality, I cant think of anything thats specifically different besides the brand, I actually prefer my FC500R over everything.
@Arnovic - The Das is probally the best of those 4, the key cool 87 and ducky will be fairly good also. Das keyboards go for like 150 dont they? You could get a filco for that price which probably trumps all the others.

I have the blue switch version of the CM Storm QRF and I can attest to the quality you get. The branding on the keyboard was a major complaint when I was researching about whether I should buy it or not. Honestly I completely forgot about it a week after I bought one. The hardest thing was transitioning from a full membrane keyboard to a ten keyless, blue switch mechanical keyboard. That took me two weeks.

Basically for the Filco name.
Leopolds do have different stabilisers, so the big keys will feel different.

PM ripster either here on TL, or at r/keyboards would be your best bet.

Agreed. I also own a CM Storm QFR but with black switches, the quality is just so good for the price. The only complaint I have is their really squeaky costar stabilizers.

I've been going strong on my Ducky for a few months now and I love it. Sooner or later I'm gonna get some custom keycaps for it too. :D

I really like the 6Gv2 Red Edition. It's very nice to type on. The only thing i can say that is negative about it atm is that the letters fade away pretty quickly. Not entirely though. Just gets a little bit worn.
The led for the Num Lock key randomly turns off sometimes also but that's not a problem at all because i don't even use the num pad anyways.
It's a very good and cheap keyboard imo.

I think that I am going to wait for Ducky Shine II. I would really like to have either white or blue backlight with blue or brown keys, but all the current ducky shines that fit this criteria are sold out. There is Razer BWU, but the quality control issues I hear about that keyboard has put me off. I don't want to spend $100+ on a keyboard just for a few keys to stop working and be stuck with bad customer service. Max Nighthawk has too few reviews online and Decks are way too expensive and also don't have very many reviews.
Wish CM has a non-red backlit keyboard...
So to sum up my preferences: Keys: Blue or Brown Backlight: Probably yes. Blue or white. Tenkeys: Definitely yes. Macro keys: Not necessary. Don't really care either way. Budget: Absolute max at 150. Hopefully won't have to spend that much.

Sounds like the Ducky is right up your alley, and will probably just fit in your budget, and they come out in Aus next month. So hopefully you won't have to wait too long.

Finally got my first mechanical in today and am loving it so far. I ended up going with a Leopold MX brown tenkeyless from EliteKeyboards. I've felt ThermalTake blacks, and my friend's Rosewill reds and browns and decided that browns were the right switch for me and I'm happy with my decision. Thanks to everyone who has contributed their opinions to this thread. It really helped me make my decision. In the future when I have more money to spend I could see myself maybe investing in one of the higher end brands but for now I'm really pleased with my Leopold.

Wow, i just checked out qtan's shop on ebay, and the prices as well as the shipping cost for worldwide, are really CHEAP. I kinda regret that i ordered my cm storm quickfire pro for 110 e(sum with shipping), but it was the most accessible keyboard i could find.

The CM Storm is backlit, but unfortunately only in red. I really don't like red lights.

Anyone know where I can get backlit white keycaps for a Ducky Shine? Either semi transparent or like transparent doubleshot?
