If you're talking about mobile Ivybridge and mobile Kepler, you'll be waiting a long time. You probably won't see notebooks containing both of these until 2013.
GTX 550 Ti is better.
The 2500k is good. Since you will be overclocking, you'll want a Z68 or P67 motherboard.

EDIT: Apologies accidental double post in other simple Q&A thread

All of those suck... very badly.

i have the same situation as xasuma. i have to change my mobo to a 1155 are there any good matx ones?

This depends on whether you're overclocking or not....

Is a 256 MB DDR3 5450 Capable of running sc2 at no higher than 1440x900? Or should I go get a 512 MB model or 1gb? There is maybe a 5-10$ differential between 256 and 1 gb. I have a PC that I'm trying to play sc2 on in low (better if possible, but I'm happy with low) and I'm trying to spend as little money as possible.
|
i might overclock a little bit but nothing severe.
|
Which is better and which do most people prefer, DivX or VLC? I've heard good and bad from both players, but it seems VLC is much easier to use since you avoid Codec packs. Any thoughts?

Asrock Z68 Pro3-M ASUS P8Z68-M Pro

Well what about just mobile Kepler?

I'm pretty sure mobile Ivy bridge will be out before mobile kepler... skyr knows more than me though.
Edit: And it apparently didn't matter because I got a better deal on a GT 520

Kepler is the sole reason why you'll be waiting. TSMC 28nm yields are just shit. Tahiti is OOS constantly and Kepler isn't even released yet.

Alright... gahh I wonder when they release >< better be soon...
Will the Kepler mobile cards severely outperform their Fermi counterparts?

+ Show Spoiler +So I'm trying to install windows 8 on a new computer (the consumer preview. It's a school computer that I'm using, so I have to reinstall a windows to actually access it). I went to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/iso to download the ISO file, and then, after downloading that, I burnt it to a DVD. I went to the other computer and in the bios, the boot priority is something like: 1) DVD Drive 2) Floppy 3) Hard Drive 4) something else So I put the DVD in and started the comp, but it went to the normal OS load. What am I doing wrong? (The OS is windows XP, if it matters.) The comp is a core 2 duo e6600, 2GB Ram, a motherboard of idk, and a GT 520 that I just installed. (Other than the GT, it is a dell prebuilt.) edit: I guess the iso file can't be used immediately?
Double edit: I'm dumb, figured it out myself.

The Gom Player has actually grown on me. I prefer it to VLC by a tiny bit. VLC is still good and really easy to use though.
