Blizzard recently received reports from a professional player that he had been approached by a broadcaster with requests to collude on matches for monetary gain. Upon investigating, we determined the evidence was authentic, but the broadcaster was impersonated by another professional player known by the ID 'Revolver'. As a result of his impersonation and attempt to matchfix, 'Revolver' is now banned from all current and future Blizzard Esports competitions, and will be removed from the player list for WCS Jönköping. Competitive integrity is vital for all Blizzard Esports, and we will investigate all reports of misconduct thoroughly and to the best of our ability.
Revolver is a Russian zerg. He frequently played in Dreamhack tournaments and was signed up to play in the open bracket of WCS Jönköping.
While a lot of information will remain private, I saw the screenshots and wish to give a huge commendation to the player for turning down the match fixing propositions without even a second thought. It's not easy to say no when there's potentially a lot of money on the line, it's hard to do.
Great job to the player who turned it down and reported it. You are literally saving Starcraft

No, I think you are getting mixed up with our Team Revolution player Matt 'Revolution' Duff. Revolver has not played with us, just came to clarify that~
Still always a good day when a player speaks up after turning down offers to match fix games, and has the balls to report it. But sad that people still think match fixing is an accepted thing to offer players, regardless of any amount of money they offer. It is great to see that Blizzard are still quick to act and deal with match fixing and other situations, that can destroy the brilliant game that is Starcraft.
Good day for Starcraft. This is exactly how we should hope these kind of things turn out. Let's hope more players get a liveable wage for their work - remember to support your favorite players!

Just curious on why this post got a warning while the two posts above it are fine?
One of the big reasons probably is that it is the account's first post.
You can get away with stuff like that if you've been here for a while and are known to contribute aside from player bashing but as a first post it's not a good sign.

I don't think calling someone a moron is ever an acceptable thing.

But telling someone to literally 'fuck off' is? I smell double standards, moron isn't nowhere near the f-word IMO. Also, how are new posters supposed to know it's just okay to say sth. rude/offensive when you got more posts? Shouldn't guidelines apply to everyone equally? Just saying that moderating that post probably wasn't a brilliant move to begin with.

He got warned not banned. The warning was probably to let him know that he can't post like that with a brand new account.
Always sad to hear stuff like this, but at least we can take solace in the fact that he got caught and that the majority of the player base is honest.
Maybe we'll see him as an OW pro unless he's banned from all Blizzard games. The OW community seems to be pretty lenient towards matchfixers as long as it happened in another game and have no issues with signing pro contracts with them.

He is banned from all Blizzard competetions, so no OW for him.

There has been no proof. In fact, even if they did leak some of the stuff Hillary did, then at best you could say the Russians did the job the MSM should have done.
As for the topic at hand: I am glad Blizzard gets rid of these people and makes public announcements. Hopefully it will scare some people enough never to consider it.
Im wondering if this was intended as a set-up which then backfired. Why else impersonate a caster? If the other player said "yes" and Revolver reported him, this story could've come out quite differently
Still, impersonating a caster trying to get a fellow competitor to commit an offense is disgusting to say the least.
Revolver is a very very shady player, I'm not sure that was the first and only match fixing incident. Finally, he was caught. GJ Blizzard, match fixing is a cancer of e-sport!
Unfortunate that this happened, dunno how anyone could possibly think they could get away with something like this in such a small, tight-knit, and mostly-transparent community.
I now will call that this case be known as the "Russian Roulette" incident (because he is Russian and his name is Revolver and he shot himself in the face with this move).

Is anyone remembers Fraer? Revolver was the reason Fraer stopped playing on competitve scene.

I was drunk, I blame the alcohol. =P Normally I would put some more thought into my post and it probably would have still ended with something like "glad he's not in the scene anymore" Instead, the spirits in me told me to just get straight to the point! I mean, I get equality and all that jazz but seeing how long I've been on TL and the contributions I've made toward sc2 show I actually care about the community. Where as Mr. 1st post player basher usually isn't a good sign. :\

Details please? Just curious
It was late 2014, both Fraer and Revolver played go4sc2 (or zotac, back in days they were pretty much twins), was it weekend or midweek I don't remember, wasn't able to find the grid for now. Second or third round from the tournament start and Revoler set to play vs Fraer, as it was excected Fraer won.
So here the story starts. Back in days Fraer was a Crimea resident, as you may know there were some problems between Russia/Ukraine and Crimea. Blizzard set sanctions especially for those region, so players are unable to participate. Pretty much anyone in CIS community knew that, and no one reported Fraer for playing from Crimea, everyone was fine, cause we're community! (Blizz seems like didn't knew or didn't care to check players IP's).
But Revolver decided to report esl admins about Fraer playing Blizzard SC2 from region he was not allowed to play. Pedantic admins made their decision, which caused:
Revolver advanced over Fraer to next round, where he was eliminated by someone (maybe Kas)
Fraer wasn't allowed to play go4sc2, his IP adress was mentioned by Blizz, end of sc2 career pretty much
That story is a cherry on your cake, I've seen Revolver streamsniping Demuslim, Stephano, Bly. I've seen him acting like a scum with all those players using barcode. And there is some evidence him betting on his own loses.
The only thing why I was surprised is why it took so long to get rid of him.
I hope it reveals why the last time people mentioned Fraer in sc2 community was late 2014.

All other things being equal, we will give preferential treatment to site members who have been with us longer. This doesn't mean they get to do whatever they want, but they do get the benefit of the doubt. The same goes for "known" professional players or personalities. If we know you and you've been around and contributed, you are much less likely to have your posts or account moderated.
In practice, this policy means a user who has thousands of posts can get away with breaking a few minor rules with just a warning while a new user might be banned. Is this unfair? Probably. But that's how it works here, longevity and contribution are rewarded.
On June 17 2017 03:03 Poopi wrote: Streamsnipe or streamhack? This is not the same at all :o.
no idea about streamhack, at least never heard about Revolver involved in such
just casual stream snipe tho
And how is that a bad thing? Except in particular cases (when there is a competition on the top of the ladder for WCS qualification for example), if you are just stream sniping, not stream hacking, and aren't harassing the player (by doing it multiple times, or making fun of him like a lot of people probably do to avilo or so I heard), it is imo perfectly fine to "snipe" a better player in order to progress (or a caster if you like him or whatever, as long as you aren't harassing the player).
Since all other things about Revolver were bad things, it seemed like you talked about stream hacking/cheating, and the confusion is problematic since both sound similar, yet one can be pretty innocent while the other one is afaik a bad thing however you look at it.
The problem here is how people are caught. Revolver is a known stream cheater + caster etc. nobody did anything about it for so long, I mean for years. I guess he must have been reported earlier. Generally it appears Blizzard does not have anyone that really cares about this, until the shit hits the fan.

When I worked at DH Sthlm (2014) Revolver caused some minor drama. He had bought tickets for DH Winter - not realising the difference between DH winter and DH Stockholm. When he was told his tickets where not valid (the check-in person had no idea who this guy way) he got quite aggressive and behaved quite bad. Striked me as a person I'd never have a drink with.
The "do you know who I am - I am a very important person"-attitude did not really suite him around player like Solar, JD, MMA, soO and others....
