I talked to him here at the event and he expressed that his wrists, and specifically the limitation it puts on trying to be the best, are an important part of the reasoning.

Does he do any wrist exercises or consistent exercise? I think he may need to do what TLO did and change his lifestyle a bit to try eat more healthily and exercise regularly. Also, do you know if the state of the game (mainly Protoss) have anything to do with it?

Unless it significantly changes the position of your wrists I don't see how a particular mouse could cause more carpal tunnels than other mice on the market.
I've seen some players like ForGG do stretches after almost every single game they play. He also said he goes to the gym (mostly for running but he still stays in shape and gets that blood flowing). I guess pro gamers should pay more attention to their physical condition to minimize the risks of carpal tunnel.
Would be an interesting lawsuit though...

If he said that then I think he realizes his own potential and is not lacking the motivation as some of us think. This really makes me wish to have seen a TaeJa that was not inhibited by wrist injuries
I'm not sure how serious wrist injuries are but maybe he can consider taking an extended break and come back strong when SC2 switches to LotV as that should prove a hard reset for everyone and a great re-entry point after a good recovery period.
TaeJa was the reason I started following competitive closely SC2 in the first place. As much as I like him to stay though, I think physical injuries are not something you can overcome so easily so I would totally understand if he does decide to retire because its a very wise decision.

I have pretty bad wrist problems and they do not go away easily, I doubt that I have them as bad as Taeja but they're not something that just goes away within a months rest. You need to do plenty of wrist exercises and eat properly to slowly remove, like what TLO did.

Thats why I mentioned LotV, which is perhaps 1 year away at the least? Again just a thought.

Nazgul, I hope you do your very best to keep Taeja with us, but make sure to put his health and joy first! I'd rather have a happy retired Taeja than an unhappy Taeja! Oh, and while he takes his break, give him some interview classes :D

What the fuck. I can't believe this. The only champion that could stand by side to all Zergs and Protoss players. NaNiwa, now TaeJa.
Sad weeks for e-sports and Team Liquid.

I think what he really needs after WCS season 1 is to take a long holiday somewhere sunny and make sure that he eats properly and exercises and stretches regularly.

AFAIK, Mvp has a different condition. http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=A00332 Since surgery was being mentioned before in his interviews, he probably has a more severe case...

Sad, but were I in his position and had wrists as bad as his, I would probably hang it up as well.

thinking about the tournament so far, it killed a huge portion of the starcraft scene, first naniwa, now taeja and the loser of the finals wont be too happy either
and Im not counting all the people that went absolutely mad about these recent events

Noooooo... I play terran mainly because of TaeJa and I've been following him so much between torunaments and streaming this cannot be real
