At the pro level, 1-1-1s became a niche build to surprise opponents while blink all-ins are STILL very common after nerf. And with PO, I don't really see 1-1-1s behind viable. It's been two weeks since the patch, dude. Too soon for T pros to figure out and refine robust builds. (Also, personally, I don't want to see blink all-ins nerfed out of the game.) As to a future 1-1-1 variant of Marines, Mines and Banshees, we'll have to see. Yes, patch has been 2 weeks, so maybe we should wait to see what the pros bring out instead of suggesting what builds 'might' be viable. The whole crux of the 1-1-1 was to get tanks in range of the Nexus and defend those tanks with marines and banshees. This doesn't really work when PO out ranges the tank. And saying 1-1-1 retained its effectiveness when it was pretty gone from pro play seems very biased. Hell, blink all-ins (with obs) was more common than 1-1-1 in the second half of obs. So even if MSC was attached to a Nexus, blink all-ins would still be in the game, just less effective.
Chill dude. It was a shoot the sky comment (don't you sometimes just spitball ideas?). Never a serious suggestion for a viable build. And you are right about the tank range vs WM. I realised as much when mulling it over while making dinner.
It wouldn't work.
Fair point too about the 1-1-1 in the second half of WOL. It did disappear from pro play.

Would be a shame for such a gifted Terran like TaeJa to retire, his play is so inspiring

People keep asking him - its not his fault lol

He should seriously switch to Protoss, he would be so good, not whining just watching that show match before dammit I can't find the VOD but believe me he did well.
Twitter is the worst thing ever created it ruins so many lives I just dislike it so much.

Is it just me or does carpal seem to have quite a preference for g9x users lately. Taeja. Scarlett. MVP. Meanwhile the other koreans using zowies or razers seem fine.
|
I'll play the guessing game as well and say that the main reason for his recent thoughts of retirement are wrists. I know he got surgery but obviously it didn't help. He was also always complaining how he wins a lot of tournaments but earns less than some other SC2 players (which is true, he is only ranked 13th despite winning a lot of tournaments).
I guess he was really nervous at IEM because he really wanted to win that 100k. I wouldn't be surprised if he announced retirement in his winner's interview even if he had won't that 100k. But in that case he would at least go with a bang. HerO's tweet (as his team member) also suggests he might have felt robbed of the chance to win the prize money because of the way he lost his games.
Even though I like him as a player, if his health is getting worse, retirement is probably the best thing for him right now. Shame that someone who is 19 years old retires due to (mainly) health issues.

Please please please let this be momentary dejection. Take 2 months off, heck take 6 months, but I gotta see TaeJa on big stages and fun streams. It's been a slow build with his talk on wrist issues. I just hope he feels the encouragement from his fanboys that he'll pull through and we've loved seeing him fight it out.

Why does everyone discuss balance? Its about his wrists of you havent noticed.

are there any protoss with wrist injuries? just wondering..

Crank!

I respect his decision . Gl TaeJa ... I enjoyed your starcraft 2 career.
|
there aren't many big money tournaments left and taeja has to worry about his health. i don't think it is directly related to the games yesterday, it just isn't that profitable for the koreans that play foreign tournaments. NASL, IPL, and MLG were staple foreign tournaments and now it's just a void.

There might be more to it than his wrists. You don´t see professional athletes retire just like that if they have an injury. Sometimes you see so bad injury that the athlete is forced to quit, however, so many athletes are willing to do whatever it takes to get back to the game after an injury if it is just possible.

I like how people make this thread about balance/game design when it has more to with TaeJa not enjoying the lifestyle of a progamer and wanting to go back to school/his normal life.
It's going to be a very sad day when he finally does retire.
