Well but carpal tunnel is not something you can get rid off you can just do stuff to keep it in check. So this would be a perfect reason to retire as pro gamer.

I've put in about 8,000 hours into the game, and I've had to take a lengthy break from playing due to the pain in my forearms, specifically my wrists.
there really needs to be some sort of innovation in the RSI field, because I can only see the problem worsening as more people acquire access to computers throughout the world.
imagine if our favorite players and progamers could have playing careers that lasted 20-30 years, instead of the 5-10 years they have now.
The mouse as an input device is obviously not ideal. Games of the future will make use of touch input or Wii-like tracking of natural movements. 20 years from now, the mouse will be considered a curiosity like nowadays the rotary dial on phones. Taeja will be back when Stratagema finally comes out:

Perhaps now he can finally learn how to boil an egg, make pasta or other basic human survival skills?
(and not just live on 1€ ramen)

Yup, even TLO who spent a lot of effort to deal with cts is forced to be very cautious with the symptoms reoccuring. Personally, I think Taeja should retire after wcs. He has more than enough money for a good education and risking his health long term just isn`t worth it.

Nice pics, Urboss. I loved that episode of TNG. Data taking out the win by not looking to win and forcing the ragequit was gold.

What do those numbers mean? Sorry, I don't understand them.
Posts he made, just find it a bit odd that he says no one enjoys SC2 while he's been watching it intensively lately

heh heroes tweet is highly hypocritical considering his play against polt not too long ago...

I guess Protoss players don't know the feeling, but when I win against fellow Terrans with my nasty proxy marauder, I'm not proud. Yet I use it, every, single, game.
|
If you look at his most recent interview he states that he try hard to win as many tournaments this year and in his tweet about his WCS matches he said that he'll do much better in future WCS matches. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/starcraft-2/445902-jjakji-and-taeja-interviews-road-to-iem-katowice
So I think it's probably a sudden choice and he's probably upset about the state of Protoss (and the game in general) but I think his wrists do contribute to it as well.
I doubt he will retire though, I think he just needs to take a few months rest.

I take this tweet with a big grain of salt, as I do with all "retirement"-posts in the scene ...

Noooo, TaeJa :'(
Whatever your decision, you earned it, you won a LOT.
|
Hoping it's not true, but either way, we need to respect his decision. He's darn sure earned it, as it has been said.

Watching Taeja die to blink all-ins 3 times was just funny to me. He built minimal bunkers every time and did not D up appropriately. Nobody to blame but himself for lack of understanding in the matchup. Stopping blink all-ins is not really that hard when you see it coming.
|
We'll be going over this in depth with TaeJa in the coming week or weeks, but it is serious and not just post-tournament emotion.

Also, Taeja a bit of a drama queen. a bit? A very big one He tweets this every time he loses in a tournament
Give the poor man a break, he has a bad wrist, if he chooses to retire, he 'deserves' to retire, whenever he wants, however he wats, he might entertain us a lot,and as much as we want him to stay, he's still playing SC2 as a job, you can't force a guy to stay on his job unwillingly, Naniwa, Duckdeok(finale) retired, Jangbi, they all retired, sonner or later due to age anyways, other players like Rain or Soulkey or Mvp will also retire, esports is a kind career that like all other sports, is a 'job' that can't last as age increase, so it doesn't matter when they retire, they ARE going to reitre,

No, it's still very hard to hold even when you see it coming.

A huge loss to the scene but don't think he would do it without solid reasons. Personal health > Everything else

don't respond to trolls, Taeja said it even after winning tournaments, some people clearly don't have any respect.

Thanks for letting us know. I hope he continues playing, but I would also completely understand if he wants to retire now.

Do you know why he wants to retire? Has he thought about taking a few months break to get in better shape and heal his wrists?
