The final Ro32 group of WCS America's Premier League ended with two more Protoss players in iG.MacSed and
IvD.puCK advancing to the Ro16.
MacSed, a quarterfinalist in two previous WCS America tournaments, was the first player to advance from the group. Against Taiwan's Sen he revealed a side of his PvZ play that had rarely been seen in previous seasons, going up to three bases in both games of his 2-0 victory.
MacSed had a more difficult series against puCK where the two players looked very much equals, but a large, 2-base blink stalker attack from MacSed in the final game of the series allowed him to win 2-1. puCK recovered from that loss to defeat Sen 2-0 in the final match of the night, advancing from the group in second place.
While MacSed and puCK have earned Premier League seeds as well as advancement to the Ro16, Sen and SeleCT must await next season's Challenger League.
The WCS America Ro16 will take place at the ESL studios in Cologne, Germany on April 5-6.
Final List of Ro16 Players
Protoss (7): Alicia, Oz, Arthur, HuK, Crank, MacSed, puCK
Terran (5): Heart, Bomber, TaeJa, Polt, Neeb
Zerg (4): TooDming, HyuN, Revival, XiGua

Wonder if Sen would've advanced had the group order been different. I can't stand MSL format groups because of how influential the order can be, especially when the two favorites face in the opening match.

Is the RO16 random or player chosen?

nooooooooooo sen

While I think this is true of the format, I think Sen just didn't advance because his ZvP didn't look great. Either way he would have had to play a protoss at some point and MacSed and Puck both looked better than him today.

Agreed, the MSL format can be random and unfair, and also agreed that there's no way it affected Sen here. Both he and Puck played everybody and Puck was just better.

Not bad this is what i was hoping for.

Finals??? America in Europe? LOL! Much like Korea in America years ago...
|
I watched some of these games yesterday and it was very one sided. Neither Sen nor Select played pro level, it was like watching Diamond against Grandmaster. I remember Sen as a very stable player, but his ZvP was completly off, he did not have any chance in those games.

So the American finals consist of mostly Koreans and are held in a German city with a French name and are being casted by a Dutch and hosted by a Brit.
it doesnt get much more international than this.

3/16 in WCS AM actually foreigners, I didn't expect that to happen! Great job
|
Fell asleep during the broadcast and I'm very surprised to see Sen fall out. I was hoping him and MacSed would make it, because I would really like to see more non-Korean Asians make it far in tournaments; more diversity will be good for the scene as a whole.

Too bad I couldn't watch the matches. But great job by Puck and Macsed!

3 chinese players in ro16, fighting!

How exactly do they plan to continue with this season of WCS AM? If they stream at time that suits North American viewers, guys in Cologne will have to do night shifts. If they stream at time that suits the WCS crew, it will suck for NA viewers.
It is both impractical and could prove quite expensive when you consider how strict EU regulations are regarding working over time, double shifts etc.

Reasonably well held, NA!

Since the so called MSL format is just standard double elimination with 4 players, and is considered one of the fairest format, meh. Not like round robin doesn't have its issues (player advance over those who lost to etc).

puCK played so well. I especially enjoyed seeing him break the collapsable rocks in the middle of a battle to crush part of Select's army and divide the survivors.

Tiebreakers are obviously a pain, but I will take RR over DG anyway.

Let's hope there will be no issues with the Chinese players getting visas for another country again.
|
Even though there are more Koreans in WCS America.
I am certain a US player will win it all.
A talking monkey told me in a dream last night.

Credit to and big congrats to puCK for advancing, but yeah, it would have been more interesting with a completely different nation balance in WCS AM Ro32 here. I don't know if the soft region lock did anything for the AM region since it was thoroughly occupied already.

Wouldn't a visa for Germany be slightly easier to obtain then one for the US?

True but Jim was able to get his WCS America Season 2 visa for the US but had to cancel his participation in the Season 2 Global Finals which were held in Germany because of Visa issues.

I don't quite understand everyone played everyone once, The order couldn't of influenced anything other then motivation and that can go both ways as well, I am a player that plays worse when in a comfortable position.
