The final Ro32 group of WCS America's Premier League ended with two more Protoss players in iG.MacSed and
IvD.puCK advancing to the Ro16.
MacSed, a quarterfinalist in two previous WCS America tournaments, was the first player to advance from the group. Against Taiwan's Sen he revealed a side of his PvZ play that had rarely been seen in previous seasons, going up to three bases in both games of his 2-0 victory.
MacSed had a more difficult series against puCK where the two players looked very much equals, but a large, 2-base blink stalker attack from MacSed in the final game of the series allowed him to win 2-1. puCK recovered from that loss to defeat Sen 2-0 in the final match of the night, advancing from the group in second place.
While MacSed and puCK have earned Premier League seeds as well as advancement to the Ro16, Sen and SeleCT must await next season's Challenger League.
The WCS America Ro16 will take place at the ESL studios in Cologne, Germany on April 5-6.
Final List of Ro16 Players
Protoss (7): Alicia, Oz, Arthur, HuK, Crank, MacSed, puCK
Terran (5): Heart, Bomber, TaeJa, Polt, Neeb
Zerg (4): TooDming, HyuN, Revival, XiGua

Wonder if Sen would've advanced had the group order been different. I can't stand MSL format groups because of how influential the order can be, especially when the two favorites face in the opening match.

Is the RO16 random or player chosen?

While I think this is true of the format, I think Sen just didn't advance because his ZvP didn't look great. Either way he would have had to play a protoss at some point and MacSed and Puck both looked better than him today.

Agreed, the MSL format can be random and unfair, and also agreed that there's no way it affected Sen here. Both he and Puck played everybody and Puck was just better.
