The Intel Extreme Masters New York qualifiers have concluded, with the following eight players earning trips to New York. They will be placed directly to Ro16 group stage of the live tournament.
They will be joined in the Ro16 by four players invited based on WCS point rankings (yet to be announced), and four more who make it through an "open tournament" style preliminary held at the event (participants also yet to be announced).

Didn't Flash say he was going to IEM NY as well? I guess he will be in the open bracket at the event.
I'm also guessing since Innovation was playing in the qualifier that he wasn't one of the four players invited based on WCS points (even though he is leading by heaps).

i might be wrong, but i think flash didnt participate in the IEM qualifiers. maybe he knew that he will get an invite.

He is definitely the #1 invite. Most of the top WCS players played in the qualifiers because of the paid trip. WCS invites have to paid themselves so it will be up to the teams to fund them. So we might see some players rejecting the invite (although Innovation is likely to accept since he is on Acer now).

They base the invites solely on WCS points and Innovation, sOs (who was reported to attend IEM earlier), as well as the usual international tournament suspects (Hyun, Jaedong, Taeja, HerO, aLive, Revival) are all ahead of Flash in that and it would really surprise me, if there is finally an NA Lan and EG/Quantic would not send their players. I think he is more likely to try to get in through the open bracket.
I am curious, how Curious and Zest will do, their run in the Kor qualifier was pretty sick, but so was Myungsiks and he ended up getting last in his group, being eliminated 0-2 by Titan.
Wow, so sad that Innovation didnt make it. :/ He just lost so unlucky in his 1-2, one game away from qualifying after winning so many qualification games (over 10 bo3s before). SC2 is really too random for bo3.
I think the lineup is pretty weak and foreigners like Huk and Naniwa have good chances to make it far. Polt and ForGG are still the favorites to win it all though.

you should've watched his game earlier vs innovation. He totally wrecked inno
This is going to be a great event I'm so glad I get to see it live and It'll be my first live HotS event! I've had a serious lack of live events in 2013 glad I get at least one
so is innovation gonna get invited because of his points? bit confused then as to why he bothered going through the qualifier. i hope mvp shows up in this one.

if you qualify through points, your flight/hotel isn't paid for. through the qualifier, however, its is.

Qualified though the qualifiers = paid trip. WCS spots do not include this. So Innovation played to tried to save Acer some money.

Can't just say "Too Random" because Innovation lost a bo3. He lost two in this qualifier, one of which being in his much vaunted TvZ. Grats to Curious and Zest, no reason to make excuses.
Hahaha, IEM trolling the American players by allowing the to participate in two qualifiers. As far as I see this is the first time they do something like this! :D Though to be fair it was only a very small, maybe even tiny, qualifier with only one spot on the line.
Well they always give one spot to a "national champion". In germany thats normally the current EPS champion. But not very many countries have an official national championship even less so via ESL/IEM (only the few alive EPS like germany, poland, spain)

The asia final page clearly has Ash and XiaoJue as the winners. No there is no bracket but they clearly entered and lost

yea it shows 2 chinese players, but theres no information on the china qualifier
and doesnt it seem kinda strange that these are the 2 best china players if there was a china qualifer?

Thats right, i see this too.
He played great at Dreamhack Bukarest and Valencia, won Lanhammer and ended up 2. at Red Bull Training Grounds after a astonishing 3:4 against Snute. He knocked out TLO in Semi.
On the other side, he played terrible at the fragbite-Masters and Dreamhack Summer.

Thats making the assumption that the 2 best players in china would always win. Or that we as people who might not have the most exposure to the scene (unless you do than I apologize) might not know who the 2 best players in china are

According to some Chinese forums, there was no chinese qualifier. IEM-NY has a time conflict with WCG-China-Final in which all the Chinese progamers will compete. WCG is still considered the most important tournament in China. As a result, the best two Chinese amateurs got the chance to get crushed by the world best Korean players.

He was flash's right hand man through proleague, and is one of the best PvP snipers in the world
