Well the first part is good news but this part kills all my excitement. I assume this is the same insider as the other thread about Rumours? I hope it's just nasty rumours from some disgruntled employee because otherwise gg no re. What if SC2 continues to struggle with numbers and LoL catches fire? Lose BW proleague and see BW pro's follow Kim Carrier to LoL? I don't know if it's so simple as BW proleague shuts down, Bisu will play SC2 forever and ever. If they're doing it for the money, they will probably follow the money.

SC2 will not last forever, hopefully it will be replaced by a worthy successor. Esports may last for the duration of intelligent life on earth, it might not, if it doesn't, that will probably be because a worthy successor came along. intelligent life on earth will not last forever. life on earth will not last forever. earth will not last forever. the sun will not last forever. our solar system will not last forever. the milky way will not last forever. our galaxyheap will not last forever. depending on definitions, the universe may or may not last forever. almost nothing last forever, the best that can possibly happen for a game is to live for thousands or perhaps a few millions of years, but in comparison to infinity, billions of years is still no more than an instant. bw lasted for what? 10-15 years? chess have lasted for something like 1000 years, why? the boardgame "go" are known to have been played more than 2500 years ago, its probably way older, why do people still play it today? the concept of esports is extremely new, if we were to analyse how complex and awesome the future esports games will become, we can first compare our early esports games with the first non-esports games. what was the first non-esport game? tic tac toe perhaps? or rock-paper-scissors? as a matter of fact, these have fairly complex rule sets, so the first games are probably thousands of years older than those. I can imagine the first game in the world to be something like: "I win" heres the rules for "I win": whomever initializes the game through any method agreed upon by all parties wins. now, lets state the following: "I win" relates to competitive pong as: rock-paper-scissors relates to starcraft broodwar as tic-tac-toe relates to SC2 as chess relates to the esports games of the future. did you really expect SCBW to last forever?

I'm curious too, but It probably has something to do with the fact that TL.net started out as a BW site, so obviously all the mods and original members are BW fans and are biased in that way. Meh, I've played BW since day1, I remember saving up allowance to buy BW when it came out, it's sad to see it die. But honestly, the way a lot of the BW fans act about it and SC2 on these forums, I'm almost glad.

You're delusional to think that those mainstream sports haven't changed at all since then. SC2 is just the new look of an old game. go look at a picture of baseball 100 years ago and tell me it looks the same now.

Because it makes the whole league a farce? Something that used to be the epitome of BW - a match of ProLeague - potentially being decided by a game of SC2?

Most of them are blob v blob cuz it would be stupid to split your forces and play at such a disadvantage when grouping all your units into one army is the most effective. I follow both games and zvp, zvt and tvp are still blob vs blob. How is keeping your units in a single group better? You're more vulnurable to splash damage, and effectively engaging the enemy becomes harder to do. The better players are starting to move away from the blob style, and are doing more to position and split their armies properly to avoid splash, form concaves, protect key units etc. I don't see why it won't become standard as players always have to keep improving to beat each other.
