GOM never confirmed any MLG player to get code A/S spot, it was always MLG.
HOWEVER saying that Naniwa didn't earn his spot in GSL 2012 January because of format change is the biggest bullshit in this whole drama. It is not a problem to save one of the 2 invite spots for the player who has earned it through agreement between GSL and MLG. MLG providence was a part of this agreement as 4 GSL players were sent to Providence to compete.

I'd just like to state that the Indianapolis Colts were 14-0 last season, and "purposefully" pulled Payton Manning as QB that game (15th game). They "threw" the game. They lost that game, and went 14-1 after that "thrown game".
The NFL did not fine them. Fans were mad, but the team was smart enough to make a judgment call over a game that was meaningless. The team did not lose viewership whatsoever.
I hope you learn how to conduct yourself in a more "professional" manner next time, GOM. Wildly inappropriate decision by any business standpoints. You cannot name one professional sport which would follow your approach. Not one. A fiscal fine is the only thing that should be allowed. Anything else is sheer power-hungry dictatorial punishment.
Grow up, and learn how to expand you views outside of your Korean bubble of elite culture which strikes the hand of anybody who deviates from a fallacy of perfection. Coca and nAl_Ra would agree about what punishments they received in the Korean Weekly, and the SKY Proleague 2v2 matches, respectively. Stupid as fuck.

Shame on you GOM be above the status quo. Yea, because if a Korean player pulled the same stunt, he wouldn't have gotten banned straight out from GSL... sigh It's already happened, and that player has already been banned from participating in GSL. Naniwa on the other hand was playing a show match that had nothing to do with GSL. I doubt a korean would get the same punishment, and if they did there'd probably be just as much uproar from fans. They're treating it like he dropped a RO16 match in code s when it's nothing close to it.
Nothing to do with GSL? If GOM hosts a tournament that people pay to watch and they players refuse to play their scheduled games that doesn't affect the GSL?
Further, what makes you so confident the Korean wouldn't get the same punishment, other than nothing, since Koreans are punished very harshly for not being sportsmanlike.

Naniwa himself said GOM never told him he had a Code S spot, meanwhile they informed Idra a week ago that he had one. Seems like they were kind of on the edge of deciding for Naniwa and this whole thing blew him off the list. I'm kinda just waiting for MLG to speak up since they were the only ones who told everyone Naniwa was getting a spot.

Not putting out your star QB is equivalent to not using your super secret awesome builds. Having a 10 year old play as your quarterback is the equivalent of using your mouse once to issue an a-move probe attack and then stare at the screen refusing to micro.
The Colts didn't put Manning out cause he might get injured. If Nani doesn't want his builds to get injured/stolen, then just use a standard build or a timing attack.

no it wasn't. stop bringing up this issue before we get clarifications from MLG. No korean player was seeded directly into championship pool by MLG. everyone was in there because of accumulated seed points.

seriously? this is completely different the colts were qualified for the playoffs and didnt want to risk injuring anyone. in football you have an incredibly high rate of injury. had peyton manning been injured in one of the last two games you can believe that there would have been screams of furious anger.
in naniwa's case he refused to play a single game that would probably be less then 40 minutes and had basically no risk. sorry but you are a complete idiot.

I dunno how these kids whining on TL didn't see this before, it was unprofessional & immature behavior, there was never a problem whatsoever with GOM's response. It was warranted, I'm sure anyone that has an education can see the merit in GOM's decision it's just PLAINLY obvious. When I see tons of responses crying foul, they seem to come from the reaction of children, not to say they are children. Just childish mindset, supporting Naniwa's amateur behavior.
How can any of you defend Naniwa, and still expect outsiders to see the legitimacy of SC2 as an e-Sport please tell me children, would this type of behavior ever be acceptable in any LEGITIMATE competition?? It's disrespectful plain and simple.

This is a similar situations that many MLB teams have in the end of the seasons. Teams will occasionally take out their best players, and replace them with second-string players to either see how they perform under game conditions or to rest their starters.
But there is a translation of that into Starcraft 2 - strategy. If a player knows he's out of a tournament, he could easily play a second-rate strategy and/or not put much effort into it. It's a way of letting the player rest while avoiding flat-out not playing.

GOM gets mad respect from me for this decision. No regrets purchasing a premium+ ticket.
I'm really enjoying the butthurt from people who think throwing a game is cool. No, it isn't. Your favorite player is not only a bad sport, your favorite player has to re-qualify for the GSL. I love it.
