This is serious stuff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saffir–Simpson_Hurricane_Scale#Category_2 I live in Southern Louisiana (extremely south) and Cat 2 isn't that big of a deal. The only way I can see a Cat 2 lifting a house is if the house is shitty and it is at the worst possible part. For Cat 2 Hurricanes, no one in my area evacuations and a lot of people actually play in the hurricane. The wind is really soothing. Now of course, depending on the path, it might be a mild thunderstorm, and we'd get unlucky to get the power knocked out, but it is no wreaking havoc matter. Although no electricity would suck for MLG. Candadar is 100% correct though.

(ie snacks/drinks/folding chair/spare socks) Make sure you bring a camera for pics, and something you want pros to sign if you get the chance to have someone awesome sign something. Also bring a chair, as there won't be enough.

Either way, I'd consider it an extenuating circumstance. Also, it hit a month after another hurricane, so that might have something to do with it. edit: Holy shit, Raleigh is pretty far inland. It shouldn't be anything.

I dont even understand why i need to teach this kind of stuff to people. People are really fucking stupid, im sorry but this seems to be the case. Every fucking time i need to teach people even the simpliest things.

I was living in the Raleigh during Hurricane Fran in 96 (a category 3), and honestly, it was bad. We lost power for 5 days, and there was debris everywhere. Roads closed, etc. In that one, the eye came pretty close to where I lived. If it's a Category 2 or less when it makes landfall, it will probably just be a very rainy day. Raleigh is pretty far inland, so if it's barely a Category 3 or less, the event should be fine. The stream, on the other hand...

The only thing I worry about it leaks in the convention center. It happened before, most of the center is underground. Will prob be like the rain at Columbus.

A category 2 hurricane has winds around 100 mph. 100 mph winds are very dangerous and are a big threat. Whoever is saying that a category 2 hurricane isn't a big deal, is going to get themselves killed. By no means do I think that this is the end of the world, but I think a great amount of caution should be taken and because it's such an early stage in the hurricane it could intensify even more or it could actually just dwindle out and never even touch land. But seriously guys for the sake of your lives, don't say that 100mph winds are nothing lol.

It'd be so much weaker by the time it gets to Raleigh, and since it is a Category 2 in the first place, there is hardly anything to worry about.

Just don't get all pissy because someone is giving perfectly reasonable explanations. He's NOT the only one that thinks that way. Many people stay in town in New Orleans duing the lower tier hurricanes. I don't know about playing in them, but sure.
