I was in Chapel Hill through Hurricane Floyd, a Category 5 hurricane. We got lots of rain, but that's it.
Category 2 means nothing, especially three hours inland like Raleigh is.
EDIT: Expect lots of rain though.

Hotels are usually extremely safe because of their structure. If it gets to be unusually bad and you have no way to evacuate, hospitals and such are good places to go for shelter. People survived Katrina in hospitals in New Orleans, so yeah...you shouldn't die.
