Seems like everyone is a loser here - fans, players, and NASL. I'm sure MC wouldn't mind a virtually guaranteed $20k-$40k.

That may be your opinion, but there are plenty like me, who will not be buying an NASL ticket because of lack of Korean talent.

A 2000$ stipend may barely cover travel expenses if only economy options are taken. But what about paying them for their celebrity status? Famous people are payed large sums to make commencement speeches, to give you an example.
You get what you pay for. $2000 doesn't pay for much these days.
Thats why tournaments got something called a prize pool....

still gonna watch, still gonna buy a season ticket. the NASL has too much potential to not support it

if your goal is to just watch koreans play, go by a gsl ticket. no idea why you would buy an NASL ticket...

Lol can I not want to see more starcraft? I buy tickets for every league with Koreans so that I never run out of starcraft.

Those people make their living out of that. I think it's not the fact that they do not want to see esports grow, but mainly that they have to keep an eye on the financial aspect. There are financial interests involved, from all sides, and that surely doesn't make things easier. Sure, just doing things for the community is great, but you have to consider the fact that everyone of them is an individual person who needs food, a place to live and a future. It's easy to be a part of the community. You just have your normal job and life, and at evening you turn on your pc and watch a stream. That doesn't mean you deserve anything from them, because it's them who are investing their lifes, not you.

well im glad you just want to watch koreans, i never said it was wrong. i dont understand why you are blaming NASL for something they tried to accommodate.

A lot of people want to see the best players play against their home grown players. It's why foreign teams are signing NBA players for exorbitant sums during the lockout. The Turkish team that is signing Kobe pays him far more than what they pay their native Turkish players because their fans want to see the best.

I'm pretty glad that the NASL didn't budge past a point based on the information we have so far.
Offering a 1000 dollar travel stipend in addition to increasing the base prize would cover the travel costs and that's pretty fair. Giving additional benefits to the Koreans only would be very unfair to the rest of the players in the League.

Nothing wrong per se, but there's a ton of people that thought Boxer@Anaheim was completely awesome. Personally, it would have been a significantly lesser tournament without him, from a entertainment/fan perspective.

i totally agree with you. its just many people in korea have noticed that there is far more potential outside of korea, and have taken measures to do that. its just sad that team managers are not finding ways to allow their players to travel. if teams outside of korea can manage to send their players around their world (ex. HuK who seems to be all over the world these days). there is more than enough sponsorship available, imo, its just they are not doing what they can to get these sponsors

you cant really say that, because if hes not there a lot of things would be different, and for all we know it could have been better

i don't see how NOT having the face of the starcraft series, or gaming altogether, would have been beneficial to MLG.

i agree, and idk if youve seen my other posts, im basically saying that the korean managers arent doing enough to send their players to tournaments. people outside of korea send people all over the place. but if the koreans are going to be dumb about this even after what the NASL offered them, im not going to hold it against anyone

I highly doubt that. Look at the traffic between MLG Dallas and MLG Columbus. Then Look at MLG Anaheim. The traffic has gotten exponentially higher for subsequent MLGs and that's due to the Koreans/Boxer.

never hear of the butterfly effect? we will never know how good the tournament would have been if boxer didnt show up. you cant go to extremes to say that without him it would have been awful because you just dont know that

This is disappointing however I imagine this makes a lot of people happy since this is what some wanted at the start of the NASL. It disappoints me though since we will be missing out on a lot of top talent players.
